January 9, 20251 yr Hello all, A couple of problems have just arisen for me in MSFS2020. I recently posted a topic asking for Modern ui 2.0 which I have acquired with thanks. When I unzipped it and before installation, I then went looking in my community folder and it was already there. So I rebooted the computer and fired up MSFS2020. To my dismay I noticed two things 1. I have retained the original ui, and 2. Despite using MSFS map replacement to start the program, I noticed that the scenery (TAI scenery YBCS) is very very standard MSFS2020. so I deleted that scenery and reinstalled it. This produced absolutely NO difference, so something is amiss here. I noted that all my add on aircraft are recognised. I also tried my YBBN scenery and the same standard MSFS scenery has been applied. I have concluded that some of the community folder is being utilized and some is not ie all aircraft recognised but scenery and UI are not. For some strange reason I then thought that I would rename the Community folder and see if I got the same results. However, I could not rename it because it was open in another folder. So I rebooted again and tried to rename the folder again and found that it was still open in another folder. Strange after a reboot. There are no files open in file explorer. I cannot help thinking that these two events are related but I do not know why. I have to admit that I am now stumped, befuddled and am actually contemplating a very reluctant windows reinstall. Can anybody help me out with this problem or make any suggestions that my help Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). January 9, 20251 yr It is possible the modern ui addon you installed doesn't have a manifest.json in the correct location to be recognised by the VFS (the system the loads addons into msfs). I can't say for the map replacement mod you're using.
January 9, 20251 yr I might suggest that you uninstall the Map enhancement software - which is notorious for causing problems in a number of scenery problems - especially the use of Google maps I had a problem with MS using "standard" sceneries in stead of those in the community folder - citing bandwith problems
January 9, 20251 yr Author Lucky38i, I have not installed a new Modern UI and the one installed worked very well for a number of years. The same applies to the Map replacement program. I do not believe that this or these programs are the problem. The problem initially started after running MSFS2020 for a couple of hours and then shutting it down for about an hour to check emails etc. The problems were noticed immediately after a restart for a flight from YBCS to YBTL in the default baron. I appreciate your response though. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). January 9, 20251 yr I noticed this, after moving my community folder for 2020 some of my airports are no longer activating, I do not use ME or Modern UI. It is also blocking some liveries from appearing. This only started after I installed 2024. To clarify, 2020 is on drive D and 2024 on drive C. January 9, 20251 yr Author Jaytee, I have just finished uninstalling that via Control Panel and reinstalling. I have rebooted and the problem still exists. I cannot get rid of the idea that the "folder is open"is the source of the problem in my mind and I really feel that I should be starting there. However, the fact that a reboot of the computer, to my mind, should close all programs before closing down and therefore not be open when the computer restarts. The fact that MSFS2020 Community folder feels that something is open seem (to me) to be the problem but I do not know how to fix this. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. I do not think any of it is relevant however as I do not have 2024 yet. My 2020 is also on drive D Thanks again Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. January 9, 20251 yr Are you using addon linker? That usually picks up errors for you. You can then try adding one scenery at a time to see which have issues. Russell Gough SE London

I'm not, but I think I might give it a try 👍 AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 4.2 32 gig ram, Nvidia RTX3060 12 gig, Intel 760 SSD M2 NVMe 512 gig, M2NVMe 1Tbt (OS) M2NVMe 2Tbt (MSFS) Crucial MX500 SSD (Backup OS). How deep on your drive is your Community folder and those addons buried? Windows has a maximum file length and the length of the paths to those files may be beyond the limit. If you turn to Addons Linker you can place your Community folder as well as your collection of addons in very shallow locations and use Addons Linker to place shortcuts, or symbolic links into that shallow Community folder. That is precisely why I turned to Addons Linker shortly after its initial version was released. Hope what I described is the issue you are facing and Addons Linker and repositioning those folders will solve it for you. January 11, 20251 yr Author hello everyone, I seem to have lost the plot here but I want to thank all who responded to my plight. However the problem has been solved but I still do not know what the problem was. I uninstalled and reinstalled MSFS2020 which did not fix the problem. I followed that with a Win 11 uninstall and reinstall and Voila. all OK. All in all, a long and laborious process but eventually all was worth while. So again, thank you to all who responded and as usual those responses were really appreciated. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. February 16, 20251 yr I’m having a similar problem that’s just started this weekend. First noticed that the toolbar/handlebar hider had stopped working. Then on approach to LEAL my flightsim.to scenery wasn’t there (I fly their regularly). I do have FS2024 and I’ve tried to install a new a330 livery just to try, and that’s also not visible in that sim so issue is on both sims. Addon linker keeps throwing me random errors about an invalid handle and won’t run, or just nothing happens, or it works. Totally randomly. community folders for both 20 and 24 are on a separate SSD to the sim/windows but are on the same drive as one another. This must be a recent windows update or something? Shocked there aren’t more reports….its driving me insane!!!

February 16, 20251 yr I’ve been trying to troubleshoot over the weekend, including re-downloading it etc, the thing is, nothing has been changed on my system…I did install the trial of SayIntentions opensky but I’ve removed that to no avail.
