August 23, 20187 yr Hi all, minor annoyance but does anyone know why some addon aircraft load from start screen with engines running and then the engines immediately shut down? Realair legacy does it, carenado Navajo does it. I don’t have any mods for cold dark or any flights saved in these conditions so I’m at a loss really. August 23, 20187 yr Check to see if the aircraft is loading with empty fuel tanks. I’ve seen that happen when loading the default P3D Cub (without restarting P3D first) immediately after having flown a complex add-on. It may also be loading with the mixture axis at cut off, or the fuel tank selectors set to off. Are you loading a flight that was saved with engines running, that quits after loading? If it’s a saved flight, it’s probably not a case of empty tanks. The only time I consistently have issues with running piston engines quitting after loading is when I spawn at a high altitude airport like Denver. On those occasions I have to pull the mixture control(s) back quite a way into the lean range to prevent the engine from quitting from running too rich in the thinner air. August 23, 20187 yr Author ok, it appears the mixture is at cut off on certain aircraft and not others. Any idea why that would be? The hardware levers are set forward no matter which aircraft load. August 23, 20187 yr Are you starting with default scenario? The scenario file retains information regarding the previous state of the VC and aircraft systems. It's also possible that the default aircraft in the default scenario has initial conditions that affect other stock aircraft.
August 23, 20187 yr I'd make sure that your default flight is a default multi-engine acft (I use the Baron) with the mixtures set to rich, all the electrics on, engines running. Some add-ons will reset things as part of panel initialization, others perhaps don't make changes until the axes or controls are manipulated, so a mixture set at lean in the default flight might carry through. I seem to remember having issues with the Duke long ago as the result of the fuel tank selector being set to off or something similar, too.
