September 12, 20187 yr I'm not planning on any purchases until the new year, but I figured I better start searching for a new laptop now. Currently, I fly FSX and XP11. However, I plan on getting P3Dv4 with my new laptop. So here is my question: I am currently eyeing a Origin NT-17 laptop that will come with two 512GB M.2 SSDs and one 2TB 5400RPM 2.5" Hard Drive... Where should the OS, P3Dv4, and XP11 be installed? I understand that the OS should be on its own individual SSD. I also understand that the flight sims best be on their own individual SSDs as well. Unfortunately, that's three SSDs when I only have two. Should I put the OS and XP11 together on one and P3D on the other? Or should I put the OS and P3D together and have XP11 by itself? Should the HDD come into play at all? I honestly have no idea. Thank you to everyone for their opinions and help in advance. James Ward
September 17, 20187 yr There is absolutely no performance difference if you have the OS on the same SSD as any sim. It is easier to recover the system if the OS is on its own SSD but that's the only advantage. The "OS on its own drive" applies only to HDD's where head movement and seek times are an issue - that problem has been eliminated with the SSD......................
