***UPDATE***

Gerald ,

Definitely FSS WX advisory that stops the F/O from responding. I tested the same flight with wx advisories and without. With advisories F/O will not reply to ATC and if you ask him to reply he will only reply with the first ATC message received. It does not matter if I start out with the radios or the F/O has the radios. Once he hears the wx advisory he will no longer respond to ATC or dial frequencies etc. It's as if he's swapped from virtual pilot off to another PF3 mode, but even if I cycle through the modes to ensure virtual copilot is off, he no longer responds. I also tried another flight from a controlled facility and everything worked correctly until I requested a wx advisory from FSS.

Indeed. Good catch.

Issue now confirmed and already fixed. New package will follow by the end of the week or earlier.

The other one rel;ated to requesting different altitude yourself will be addressed in new package as well.

Fo won't acknowledge the entire weather report in this case as it's too long. He'll just say something like "Roger, weather report received" or something like that.

Gerald,

I had a chance to test out ver 2.7.9.4 and everything checked out except F/O does not reply to departure when given a squawk after departing an uncontrolled airport. When asked to reply to ATC he repeated the ATC clearance from FSS on the ground. He acknowledged all other incoming messages from ATC during the rest of the flight. Also requesting a climb and descent worked.

If I may ask, what was the problem and fix pertaining to climbs and descents?

Thanks again for the awesome support.

You're welcome.

The request for climb and descent had to be done this way (as already implemented for Fo requesting level change)

Hold down hotkey for Higher or lower

Compute altitude difference between currently assigned altitude (as set in FCU) and new one.

Send hotkey for the delta altitude

Release the hotkey for Higher and lower.

It was handled differently (and buggy) in the Request you make yourself.

How do you get a squawk assigned at uncontrolled airfields?

Hey Gerald,

At an uncontrolled field, you would contact FSS (default frequency 122.20) for your clearance.  Let's say an IFR flight from KVCB-KRDD.  FSS's clearance would be " <call sign>  you are cleared to KRDD, climb 050, departure frequency xxx.xx".  After takeoff you dial in departure and check in. At that point departure will say "<call sign> squawk XXXX".  Works the same for VFR flights and you want flight following. At controlled fields you are given the squawk with you initial clearance.

Hope that helps,

Tony J

Thanks.

Normally, FO is trained to handle these sort of captions, therefore not sure why he isn't picking up the squawk code.

Will be checked anyway.
