What video recording software do you use?

Featured Replies

Hi,I realize this question has been asked a million times before, and I've read all those threads. It seems by general concensus that Fraps is the tool of choice of most respondents. But I thought I'd ask again just in case some new tools have emerged. What I'm mainly looking for is a product that has the least impact on frame rates. Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

I use fraps too. Funny thing is that fraps appears to degrade FPS while using it but after playing the video back I see better FPS. Strange indeed but it works!...............Randy J. While I do help companies test products - this in no way means I represent them in ANY fashion.
Evolution is a process that results in heritable changes in a population spread over many generations
I am still using Fraps demo and WMM to make my vids (both free)I d/led the Sony Vegas 6 demo http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/products/vegasfamily.aspWhich is is really superb for video editing. In fact I ended up using the free 30 day Vegas 6 demo time to make a promotional video for a Gym ...and got paid for it! :-lolWhen I am feeling flush I will definitely buy this superb editting software. But for video capture I am still using Fraps ...I tried this :http://www.planetgamecam.com/which I certainly found smoother than Fraps but if I remember rightly I had to pay to record the sound as well

I use FRAPS and occasionally Camtasia, when I need to record just a part of the screen.

I just tried Gamecam again ...and it is far smoother than Fraps.Maybe I should register to get sound. :-hmmmedit* Well I registered Gamecam Lite ...lets hope this does the trick. :)I must admit I find the stutters from Fraps a bit irritating.

I also use FRAPS and Vegas regularly, hardly any studders in the games I record from.

I've used Fraps for ages and had no problem. You'll get a slight FPS hit, but the footage is still recorded smooth. There's also TAKSI which is free but doesn't record sound.
