August 26, 200619 yr I've just downloaded some repaints for Dreamfleets Baron. I chose to have them in 32bit but now I seem to have lost the chrome tips on the prop. When converting to DX3 the chrome returns to normal. Does any know how to retain the shine using 32bit.Thanks. Hope it's okay if I post a screenshot as an example.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/154747.jpg
August 26, 200619 yr Interesting.. 32bit should work fine with the alpha channel. Have you got the alpha channel bmp correctly named in the same folder? I'd advise heading over to flightsim and posting in the Dreamfleet forum :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 26, 200619 yr If you modified these files in DXTBMP, you also have to update with the origional alpha channel before the conversion. Thus, I have to assume you you created the 32bit and forgot to update(and include) the 'required' alpha channel which provides the 'chrome effect'.
August 27, 200619 yr Thanks for the tips. I'll try to update the alpha channel and see if that helps.I put these files in the "Dream Manager" and perform the the required actions to install the new paint. I must have missed a step along the way. Paint work in 32bit looks so much better, thankfully my pc can handle it without any hit on FPS.Cheers
August 27, 200619 yr Have not used the 'Dream Manager' for a while, but make sure your XX.bmp has the required (original) alpha embedded in the file. You might be better off using the DXTBMP program to make sure it is included. The problem may be is that you lost the alpha channel when you updated to the 32 bit file. If you open the file in DXTBMP, it will read the alpha channel, and the alpha channel should not be a solid color in this case. Your prop area should be a 'darker' grey...as example. If you lost the alpha channel, you can get the alpha channel from the original file (if you have it/saved it), Open you original file in DXTBMP, copy the alpha to the editor with DXTBMP, then save it as a separate file. Open your 32 bit file in DXTBMP, send the alpha to your editor, and copy/paste you saved alpha (replace it), hit save in your editor...update your alpha channel in DXTBMP, and finally save it to your texture folder location. Done.
August 27, 200619 yr Author It seems that you still have an old Dreammanager version. The correct version is at least:1.1.104.0There was a problem with the 32 bit textures in the initial release. Just go to the dreamfleet site and D/L and install the latest version.ThanksJos
