ORNJ = ORNI?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Recently I've been updating some UTLive schedules using UTT schedules for 2018. When I convert these schedules to xml format for use in UTLive, schedules of airlines that are supposed to fly to Al Najaf airport in Iraq typically give an error saying that legs to ORNJ were not converted to xml and thus discarded, because this airport doesn't appear in UTLive's database.

Now that's all fine - recently somebody on the UTLive forum figured out how to add missing airports to UTLive's database and has successfully applied this to OTHH. Thus, it seems to me I could do the same to ORNJ - if I knew what this airport is. As an aside, Najaf doesn't exist in P3D's database either, and so I downloaded a freeware scenery for it.

Now, given that ORNJ must be in Iraq and that NJ most likely stands for Najaf airport, I looked up Najaf's wikipedia page - only to find that its ICAO code is ORNI - not ORNJ. However, coordinates of ORNJ in the UTT schedules match those of ORNI closely, so I'm thinking that the ICAO code must have been changed recently, except I'm not sure where to find this information.

So that brought me here 🙂 Would any of you know whether ORNI and ORNJ are in fact the same thing?

Thanks!

Benjamin

Yes, I think they are the same thing. ORNJ is now an obsolete code and was replaced by ORNI.

May all your landings be safe ones!

Thanks all, that's all I needed! Will take some work to correct all those schedules... I guess I won't be bored the coming days.
