  1. Thanks for the tip. Checked my Bravo and parking brakes were set there. Deleted them and all good now. Don't have GSX installed. Cheers!
  2. I'm getting this problem too. Haven't been able to resolve it. Parking brake is released but message is displayed that it is still on. Aircraft won't move. Default A321.
  3. I always like flying in to Nusatupe airport (AGGN) in the Solomon Islands. The airport takes up the whole island and you need to take a boat to the nearest town, Gizo. In 2023 it was voted best airstrip in the South Pacific by the Coral Sea Foundation.
  4. Well I've tried 4 flights and 3 of them have resulted in CTDs. The only successful one was 1 hr 38 minutes long. Last flight was just 3 minutes 15 seconds before the CTD. No clues in the Event Viewer other than just the simulator .exe failed. Looks like this is heading into the hangar behind the A350. Another expensive mistake on my part.
  5. If you go into windowed mode, they will be displayed at the top left of the screen.
  6. 8 minutes 59 seconds for me just now. Definitely longer.
  7. This is as far as I've got after 18 hours trying to access the sim. Time to hit the sack and maybe try tomorrow.
  8. I learnt to fly at NZWN where an aero club is based. But.....it is also an international airport. Methinks that FS2024 will block me from simulating what I did in real life. However, I'm eagerly looking forward to trying out all aspects of the career mode.
  9. Shut down my FS2020 pc many weeks ago and started counting down the hours, about 783 then. Have set up my new pc and now there's just 164 hours to go. Can't wait. Extra bonus - release date is my birthday. Couldn't have asked for a better present!
  10. Maybe it was just me, but it was my perception that the engine sounds for each of the aircraft featured were stuttering every few seconds.
  11. Disappointing to see no new cities in 4 of the 5 biggest countries in the world (by population).
  12. https://msfsaddons.com/2024/09/19/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-complete-aircraft-lineup/ This page lists all the aircraft in FS2024. The ones noted as (NEW) total 45. You will get all of these if you buy the Premium Deluxe version.
  13. That would seem to be a pretty reasonable call. I would expect about the same price for the FS2024 version too.
  14. From the About this file on flightsim.to: Ensure you traffic settings for Ships and Ferries is 5% or more. All ships will appear at 5% so no need to increase to 100% unless you want to see repetition of the default ships. https://flightsim.to/file/9529/global-ai-ship-traffic-msfs-v1

I seem to have purchased it. Have saved the _300ER zip to my drive, have my order number and activation key. Am just about to install it now.

Hi Rick66, can you confirm that the photoreal textures actually do cover 246,000 sq mi? If so, that would seem a bargain and I'll definitely buy it. Thanks Shug
  17. Hi Mark, I know this is no help to you, but I'm experiencing exactly the same thing as you. It only started happening today. I was trying to install the Flightbeam KDEN whilst my FSX was running (bad move on my part - I usually install addons when FSX is not running). I started getting some errors with couatl and since then FSX will just crash back to the desktop after the splash screen is displayed. I tried deleting the fsx.cfg but that made no difference. I tried a restore back to earlier today when everything was working but that made no difference either. I'm loathe to have to re-install FSX from scratch as I have many dozens of addons and last time it took me about 6 months to get everything running back to my satisfaction. Hope there is an easy answer to this problem... Cheers, Hugh Hi Mark, Update: I was looking at some other postings in this forum for clues and saw Jim Young's tip about downloading a new Addon Manager. I have done that and now my FSX works again. Am pretty relieved! So if you have any Flightbeam or FS Dreamteam scenery installed try installing a new copy of the Addon Manager and see if that helps. Regards, Hugh
  18. Is that a bit like "******* wept"?
  19. 1984 I think, Flight Simulator II. Wow nearly 30 years now. Has been a lot of fun. I still remember the excitement when my local airport NZWN was first depicted, which was in version 5.1 if memory serves.
  20. Totally agree with this statement. I've just checked my credit card statement and see that I've spent US$663.04 on FSX add-ons. In the last three weeks! Yikes! Doesn't deter me though - I love FSX and use it every night and have it running non-stop throughout every weekend. Couldn't imagine how much I've spent since FSX was first released but it would certainly be a fair bit. Plenty of other hobbies that would cost you a lot more though....
  21. I came in way too fast at KCOD last night. Thought - "this is going to be tight"! Couldn't figure out why speed was so high. Slammed on the brakes and just managed to stop before I exceed runway limitations! Realised I hadn't disabled the A/T. What a numpty! Popped out to have a look at the brake gear - red hot!! I agree, very cool.

Last night, because it tickled my fancy, I flew my 777 to OOMS just to see if it would live up to its name. But not even a peep from the Windows pinger. I think I only have one little AFCAD there and there's not much in the way of scenery apart from a few planes parked up. I never bought the NGX as it appeared that it would not really work well on the computer system I had then. I now have a much better system and eagerly awaited the release of the 777. I'm not disappointed - I think that this could be the best money I've spent in a long time and envision gaining much enjoyment from it. I have learnt, via these fora, that I need to change my simming habits. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just adjusting to what is necessary to obtain maximum pleasure from this hobby. Do I really need VFR England/Scotland/Ireland enabled whilst flying WSSS - VHHH? No, I don't think so. I'm now going to put my sim back to bare basics and add this and that until I find the sweet spot, as many people have suggested in the past.

Well I've done some more experimenting with the 777 and FSDT CYVR tonight. My Texture maxload is 2048, LOD4.5, Highmemfix=1. The only scenery I had enabled was FSDT CYVR, Vancouver +, and all UT Canada sceneries. UT2 traffic was set at 75% for commercial traffic, Opus weather running. I used the Air Canada livery for the 777, natch! GEX textures for North America. Tonight I didn't even get close to OOMing. One change I made was the scenery order priority of Van+ which I moved to highest priority. This helped immensely. I did notice that as soon as I flew out of the vicinity of the airport the VAS load dropped. I also tested the same aircraft with all the Flightbeam trial sceneries, LatinVFR KSAN, and FSDT PHNL. The VAS load was about the same, high but certainly not going to bust the limit. FT's OMDB did come pretty close to the VAS limit. When I stopped the 777 on a taxiway there, I swapped it out for the PMDG 747 and noticed quite a drop in the VAS. So from my observations (certainly not scientific!) the 777 does increase the VAS load in comparison to other aircraft, (I don't have the NGX) but I believe it is manageable. I haven't checked all Ryan's recommendations for tweaks in the Introduction manual but I think I do have some of them already. Will need to check further. Haven't had a proper flight in my 777 yet, have spent too much time checking out performance at complex airports! Off to bed now, but I know what I'll be doing over the weekend! Cheers,
