Hi everyone,

recently I bought P3D so I could fly the FSLabs A320. However Im having issues with the FPS. My first thought was that my CPU and/or my GPU were not good enough for P3D, but when I looked at my task manager I found out that both my GPU and my CPU were not even working at 50%. I really want to enjoy P3D cause the FSLabs A320 is the best A320 on the market right now. My FPS are between 10 and 15. I think P3D is not taking advantage of my pc specifications. Do you have any ideas of what I can do to increase my performance in this simulator? I also fly with Xplane 11 and my FPS are between 25 and 30 with a GPU workload of 95-99% I dont know what to do with P3D. Please help me.

PC Specifications

i7-4790 3.60 GHz

Nvidia GeForce GTX 960

RAM 8GB

The overall CPU utilization on P3D may be less than 50%, but I'll bet if you look at CPU load per-core, that Core 0 is close to 100%.  A lower overall load being reported is because it's an average across all four cores, but if the main thread is loading up core 0, then your CPU is being tasked as heavily as it's going to get.

Per Beau Hollis of LM, the GPU heavy features in P3d are:

-Shadows

-Dynamic Reflections

-SSAA

-Dynamic Lighting

-3D Water (water set to ultra)

-3D rain/snow effects (set weather theme to storm theme to test)

You can start moving the sliders of these graphical features to the right and monitor what happens with your GPU usage.  Don't move the sliders so far right your GPU is running at 100%... you need some headroom.  Try to get your GPU running at 60%-70%.

HTH,

Greg
