August 19, 200619 yr I'm sure I read that FSX would allow VC presets similar to Active Camera. I don't see this, nor any way to configure or assign keystrokes to allow this. Am I missing something, or is it not part of the demo? Curt Branch
August 19, 200619 yr The demo does allow you to add new ones; the camera definitions are set in the aircraft.cfg file of each aircraft. You can find the aircraft in the Microsoft Flight Simulator X DemoSimObjectsairplanes folder. Choose one of the aircraft, then open the aircraft.cfg file within it with notepad and search for this:CameraDefinition. You'll find sections labeled CameraDefinition.0, CameraDefinition.1, CameraDefinition.2, etc. These are the extra camera placements added by the developer. You can add new viewpoints by adding new sections and changing the parameters to suit your needs, although I'm not sure what the "naming convention" for the GUID parameter is. I imagine it has to be unique for each view.I'm not sure if anyone ever promised these positions to be editable directly from the game.
August 19, 200619 yr Thanks for the reply. This is disappointing news, as now I realize I'll have to continue with Active Camera in FSX. There must have been a rights or patent issue here since Microsoft didn't implement it in this version. Tdragger, can you comment on this? Curt Branch

August 19, 200619 yr I think he's saying that he wants to be able to make new view sets by keystroke, not by having to manually enter them in the cfg file.
August 19, 200619 yr Yes, with Active Camera you can set up to 10 views and snap to them with specific keystrokes. It's very easy to program, just get the view you want and lock it in. There's no way you can do that through the .cfg file without constant experimentation, and I don't have the time or the patience to fiddle with that. The space bar/mouse scanning option is better than nothing, but it's still behind what Active Camera has had for years. Curt Branch
August 20, 200619 yr FYI, to switch through the new view system you use S to change view catagories and A to change views within that catagory. But as you've mentioned, so far it doesn't seem all that easy to set views, but this is only a demo. There may be menu options or tools to make it easier to create a camera view in the full version."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
