P3D menu scaling problem with BenQ 4K UHD monitor

So the image quality in P3D v4.4 on my new BenQ is gorgeous, but there is a slight problem...

In full screen mode in some of the menus, you can't see the "ok" and "cancel" buttons, you have to Alt-Enter in to windowed mode to see them, a minor inconvenience I guess, but annoying nevertheless. The change fuel/payload menu is one example, some of the others like the map menu display fine because the are smaller to begin with.

I'm pretty sure this some kind of "high DPI" scaling issue, but I'm not sure what to do about it..

Any assistance or suggestions are appreciated.

usually you can enter the control panel of the monitor and adjust the screen display so that the image fits. Probably a button on the monitor - each one is different.

Thanks Vic, I got it figured out. Just needed to set the native resolution of the monitor in P3D... Doh!

Sorted a problem out for me as well 😀, hadn’t given that a thought, assumed P3d did that automatically!

BTW, this is a great example of why one should post whatever solution they find to a problem. It can help someone else without your knowing.

Yes it is Ray, and it doesn't seem to have cost me much in the way of performance either.

Yep, it seems to work fine, I just wonder if a 2080Ti would make the BenQ shine even brighter..??

I considered it when putting the components together for my PC but rejected it because of the outrageous price. A huge premium for a pretty small gain.

I'm taking a hard look at a 2080Ti, because I have noted some decline in performance at some of my more complex add on airports with the BenQ 4K UHD monitor versus my old 2560x1440 monitor. It's not terrible mind you, and in most places it's quite good with my 1080Ti.

I know a 2080 Ti is going to be expensive, but at least they are cheaper here in the US than in the UK, so I feel Ray's pain, but the way I'm looking at this is I can probably get close to $800 for my current monitor and my Windforce OC 11gb 1080Ti selling them on ebay, so that will reduce the cost of a $1300 to $1400 2080Ti by a considerable amount.

Small gain?  IMO nothing could be farther from the truth.

 Since upgrading from a 1080ti to a 2080ti:

4x MSAA  -> 4x SSAA, 8x SSAA possible depending on conditions.  Doesn't matter if u have 4K or not u need high AA to combat the shimmering issues. 

SD clouds -> HD clouds

Shadows -> Max draw, max quality, HD VC shadow tweak

Shadows enabled -> Can use terrain, building, and cloud shadows regardless of overcast conditions.  Terrain shadows add so much to the immersion.

Weather -> High density overcast with cloud shadows would easily kill my 1080ti.  Was even a struggle for my 1080ti SLI.  Not a problem with my 2080ti.

Less frame loss when undocking panels to other monitors.

Enabled dynamic reflections on max setting.

Much less frame rate hit at night with dynamic lighting enabled.

Able to use 3 monitors instead of 2 for various background apps, panels, etc. 

I was a 2080ti basher in the beginning.  I have since ate my words.  Expensive yes, Is the gain worth it?  In my eyes yes.

@mpw8679, glad your pleased with your expensive purchase. You probably paid a lot less than Brits would given the exchange rate. Current U.K. prices range from UKP 1130 up to 1500.

I doubt many would pay that but since Nvidia ceased production of the 1080Ti some may be forced to. In the meantime I’m more than happy with my 1080Ti.

Same here in Australia where a 2080ti can sell for something well north of 2000 AUD (ouch!).
