Update:

We resolved this.

I think the problem was he did not have the Trike as the default aircraft on the free flight screen on the Free Flight menu.

Even PMDG recommends to have the Trike as the default aircraft to ensure everything loads cleanly.

Never have a 3rd party plane as the default plane on startup.
