fileplanet "beta"... a ploy?

Featured Replies

was the fileplanet announcement just a ploy to get people to sign up to their services? it seems gamespot came through when they said they would, but the beta is nowhere to be found, not even letting people know they were selected. I thought the releases of the demo and beta were supposed to be at the same time?

Will you calm down? Mike said "near simultanious release" not simultaneous. When fileplanet starts is up to them.

It's been hinted that you won't hear anyone talking about being selected for the fileplanet beta - because they will have to sign an NDA before they get it.

>It's been hinted that you won't hear anyone talking about>being selected for the fileplanet beta - because they will>have to sign an NDA before they get it.Yeah, like you can trust the random 15 year olds to keep quiet about it.

>Will you calm down? Mike said "near simultanious release">not simultaneous. When fileplanet starts is up to them.Im calm, Im downloading the demo right now :)I missed the "near" part, my bad.

I think we can rest assured that they haven't started yet.

Actually the serious gamer random 15 year olds are very good at keeping quiet about beta's.They do so because they know if they break one NDA - they will never get another chance from any company.

fileplanet now has the demo so I'm *hoping* that the beta can't be far behind.

oh nonsense. there isnt a broken NDA list or anything. companies really dont care, if they are willing to bring a beta out into the public (ie allow a build to leave the campus) then they should not be surprised if anything gets out

companies care. If fileplanet doesn't keep such a blacklist they'd never get to publish another beta again. And the companies themselves certainly keep blacklists.

>companies care. If fileplanet doesn't keep such a blacklist>they'd never get to publish another beta again.>And the companies themselves certainly keep blacklists.>There is no way that FP even cares. In the 24 betas or so I've participated in over there the selection process is random or automatic based on system configs. Users are just a number and marketing targets on that site, nothing more. They don't care if an NDA is broken.

I'm with you on that one. I fell in love with the demo, it looks so awesome!!!!!! I can't wait to see other parts of the world.

Frankly I'm getting a bit worried. I thought it would have started by now. And if it doesn't start tomorrow I'm going to be really worried.

I've been with FP for almost 2 years now and i've been in a few closed betas and all I can say is wait. The sign up page is still up (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/flight_simx/) and my guess is the beta will start on Friday so invites might start going out tommorrow or on Friday. Again i'm making a guess from other betas so don't hold me on the date.

IIRC, I think P:IGI 2 had one a while back.
