fileplanet "beta"... a ploy?

Featured Replies

Ok thanks. I'm starting to get the feeling that a) the public beta has already started :( the sign up link is now out of date and c) that I wasn't lucky. I'm fine with that as I knew I wasn't 100% guaranteed to get in. However, as it's been said, it would have been nice to have been told one way or the other.

No one from fileplanet has said anything, no one from ACES has said anything, clearly this whole thing was just a waste of time. How much do you want to bet fileplanet thought they were getting a full beta, but were surpirsed to find out that only the demo was going to be released, so they tucked the beta sign up page and way and are hoping noone remembers this. I feel sorry for anyone who bought a subcription for the beta.

>Mike (tdragger) does mention a public beta on his latest blog>post but he doesn't say if it is to come or has come.I think Mike's refering to the fileplanet beta as being public. In other posts on forums he's made mention of Microsoft's beta as distinct to the FP beta.

I'm pretty worried cause I really want to try out the full beta but I still don't think anything's happened yet.

I asked fileplanet when they would send out the emails and this was there response.Greetings Chris,If you were accepted, there should be an email forthcoming to you shortly. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.Regards, David Bohm, Customer Service SpecialistThat was a couple days ago so it would be hard for me to believe that it hasn't started yet.

I would have to disagree with those saying it is a "public beta".When subscribers sign up for the FP Beta, IIRC, it states you may not be chosen and to check your email. If it was an open beta, I doubt it would say that.I don't think the FP beta, if there is one, has started yet.

If there isn't one then that's false advertising. Like I said, there's a difference between not getting on the beta and there not being a beta.

Like I>said, there's a difference between not getting on the beta and>there not being a beta.Agreed.Luckily, I don't see FP making stuff up to get subscribers (I don't think they really need too). There's also a BF 2142 Beta coming soon as well (I'm really excited about that one). :)

So microsoft just leaves us hangin' without telling us we should stop checking our e-mails. Thanks for the heads up.

That's the great thing about using a word like "shortly." It's relative :)
