How to make a FSX gauge work in P3D

Recommended Posts

I have favorite panel that I have been using for years in both FSX and P3D. The only problem is there is one certain gauge that will not work. It's called davtron.gau and is a clock and thermometer that fits into the panel. Is it possible to make this gauge work? I have installed the gauge into the main gauge folder in P3D.

Thanks. Bob G.

When P3DV4 was first released in 64-bit form, the main issue with add-ons were gauges as they needed to update to 64-bit to work.

Thanks Jim. However, it didn't work in previous versions of P3D.

If it doesn't work at all in P3D the only way to make it work is to update it and recompile using the P3D SDK. I assume you do not have the source code?

Cheers!

Hi Luke. I have the name of the panel that is available for download, but I have never messed around with SDK, so I don't have clue how to use it. Interesting that this panel has some files from 2001 and they work. This one is from 2003 and works in FSX and SE.

Any .gau or .dll file is compiled C code and cannot be "de-compiled". So one must have the source code in order to re-compile it in 64bit format.

Any .xml or .cab files may be run in either 32bit or 64bit simulator versions.

Thanks for that info. Would it possible to find another gauge that would serve the same purpose in 64 bit?

I've checked both here and at Flightsim.com and have only found this older FS2002 .gau version.

Yeah. I searched both libraries and found the same thing. Thanks for taking the time to search.

You might be able to find a similar gauge in one of the default aircraft.

If you do, you can look at its panel.cfg and see how they referenced that gauge -- and then do the same in your aircraft's panel.cfg.
