Never knew what a game slideshow was until now.. I tried with all settings maxed out and all I got was just .5 fps.I do like the demo..with medium settings on most things I get reasonable fps, actually about 15-20. not bad and I do think it looks better then stock FS9.my specs are amd 3200+ 1 gig ram Ati x800 gto. Far from top of the line but its still has some kicking power. The reason for this thread is that I really really hope that MS optimizes FSX before its released which was mentioned many times, except from my expericne with a release date so close, there just might not be enough time to do all of that. Most of the time, when you see the demo it gives you general idea of what the final product whould look like. If the release date of early october still holds true that means there will be about 1 1/2 months of beta/bug fixing if not less before it goes gold which imho is not enough for such a complex product. So I have my fingers crossed and really hope ACES pulls this one off. All in all, I will still buy it as soon as it comes out no matter what. :)

Turn off the autogen :)

I have an older system than yours, and I can run everything else cranked at a solid 20 fps with those two things turned down.

REALITY CHECK TIMEPlease do not forget that every edition of Flight Simulator is designed for the 'sliders' to be optimal for most systems at 50-70% when first installed. That way, there's still something to "add" whenever hardware is improved... ;)

Jeez, FS2004 used to smoke along then. Guess another new system is on the cards next year for Vista and Vista FSX.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australia

Autogen and AI are definite fps killers for the demo. I fly with the settings on low for the Traffic tab, and autogen on normal with everything else maxed. Consistent 15-20 except near an airport. I'll have to turn down traffic even more to land.Ian.

Also we must keep in mind the development cycle for the series. In one year's time what type of CPUs and video cards do you think will be running this and other games? With my ATI X800XT PE I can run games that were once very hard on my FPS. Devlopers must not leave out things now simply because some people's rigs are not up to date. A 3200 XP while not "slow" is slow compared to my 4000XP and my cpu is slow compared to others. In the air I get GREAT FPS with everything in the demo maxed out minus AI, on the ground I am seeing just above 12 which is slow but even then it is not "choppy" like FS2004 with the same FPS................Randy J. Just a comment that no one should ever ever expect to be able to run a new game maxed out on a year+ old system. That's just silly.
