I dont think it will smooth weather transisitions, that's just not its task (although I didn't observe that many hard transitions when using ASXP). However, it does a wonderful job in removing the overdone gray haze and as well the ugly XP default khaki color. In my eyes, it gives X-plane a very natural and pleasant look. You can tune it, but I just use the "impressive" script provided with the program and this does a pretty good job.
