August 8, 200619 yr If so, I need to take my credit card to the sound card store. Anyone have suggestions on what to look for in a surround sound system for my PC?
August 8, 200619 yr It will. I have a Logitech speaker system in my office--not their top end but pretty nice one--and a SoundBlaster Audigy card.
August 8, 200619 yr Argh, I have 7.1 sound but 2.1 speakers. Guess it's time to buy some new speakers.
August 9, 200619 yr >If so, I need to take my credit card to the sound card store.>Anyone have suggestions on what to look for in a surround>sound system for my PC?Garwig, there is a GREAT DEAL on the Audigy ZS 2 Platinum (comes with the drive bay breakout Box/Headphones/Audio In/Out Digital In/Out) for $100 after $100 rebate:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16829102163I bought that card for my other system a year or so ago and it is GREAT but now I have the X-Fi Platinum in my new system! I also picked up, IN MY OPINION, one of THE BEST powerful 5.1 speaker systems available for a RELATIVELY inexpensive price (They were $230 a few months ago). I have been into audio my whole life and these things have EXTREMELY CLEAN sound cranked all the way up - which you'll NEVER DO or the neighbors down the street will think there is a major commotion. The bass is AMAZING and there if you want it - CAN'T WAIT to get some fly by sounds in 5.1 or AI Traffic audio:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16836121120Carmine http://forums.avsim.net/images/wave.gif
August 9, 200619 yr I've got the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro card along with the Gigaworks 750 7.1 speakers. It is a match made in heaven...
August 9, 200619 yr I stuck mine on a Denon AVR-1905 with a VMPS speaker setup. Though I still need to buy something better than an infinity for my center. The subwoofer is a Sunfire.
August 9, 200619 yr I really wish I could hook up my music system and speakers to the PC. I have a great sub woofer a Velodyne F1200 and a HGS18 (for my HT). I wish, there was some way I could hook up my Adcom Poweramp and preamp and its own speakers to the PC.I once tried to connect the music system to the PC...but it didn't quite work out.All I am looking for is a Coaxial or a Optic cable output like the one you have from your DVD player. Is that so hard to provide from a soundcard?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
August 9, 200619 yr I wish my PC was in its own office! With limited space at the moment we have to put our PCs ( wife's and mine ) in a small area that connects off our living room. If anyone else is home I wear headphones. It'd be a waste for me to buy good speakers for they would rarely be used. :( Such a pity too, I have a very good sound card ( SoundBlaster X-Fi ) for it. Such is life!
