Black backdrop and clouds

Recommended Posts

Hi Steve,

I upgraded to Version 4 of the fixer and have an issue. The sim doesn't display the backdrop anymore, nor clouds once the sim has launched. Any ideas please and/or what other info do I need to supply?

Thanks in advance.

In addition, the instrument panel of the stock Cessna in 2d cockpit view doesn't display. VC works though. Here's an external view at Louisville International. My usual airport is EGCC, but that's a complex UK2000 airport.

EDIT: When switiching back to DX9 via the controller, the sim works fine..

You have a shader not compiling. Uninstall, install the libraries.  See if that helps.

I tried that, sorry. Didn't help. So far I've verified the integrity of the game files via Steam. and I've deleted the fsx.cfg file and let it rebuild itself. All to no avail. FWIW The sim was working fine prior to me updating the Fixer and Cloud shadows.

Run diagnostics, what build does the controller report in help about?

4.0 build 128

Diagnostics is OK - just warnings about texture max load set to 1024 which worked fine on a previous version, and the HD shadows set warning

go into file->debug dialog, untick the option near the bottom called don’t show shader errors and press apply.  Then run fsx and tell me If you see any popup errors

After that go back into debug dialog, untick all four v4 options at the bottom press apply and tell me if it’s then ok.  If it is then we need to find out what isn’t working for you and why you have what seems to be a pretty unique issue.

ignore what I said above about v4 options for now.  In the other dialog what options do you have selected in the  top section for fog.

Yeah that’s what I guessed.

Turn everything back on in debug.

Then in other dialog tick FTX global/ vitally in addition to what you had.

You have found a genuine fault.  If the improved fog logic in v4 is enabled and the sun fog is ticked and ftx global fog isn’t then there are shader compilation errors

No, just worked around!

I need to release a proper fix, it should be possible to select the options that you had previously without a compilation error.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
