July 14, 200619 yr I am wondering what others think. Given that FSX appears to have fleshed out the planet with low ratio scenery mesh AND now with moving objects on the surface, not to mention "24 million" roads, I am concerned that my Megascenery addons and such are useless with FSX and given the moving objects at FSX airports, what good now would a new addon airport scenery be? Maybe it's time to stop buying addons for FS9 and see how FS2004 addons will fit with FS9, I suspect many payware scenery products are totally out of sync now with FSX. Randy Jura, KPDX
July 14, 200619 yr Worse, several dev's aren't sure what to do at the moment because it takes months to build a project and some don't want to have the timing work out so that they finish one project with FS9's capabilities only to find out 2 days after they release that they could have done things another way that would have been better. And so go right back and do a rewrite only days / weeks after releasing. Some are not concerned about it, stating that their work now serves as a solid foundation for the FSX version plus the fact that anything written using only an FSX approach won't be usable in FS9... which will still be in use by many people for at least a year after FSX comes out. After all, there are still a lot of folks using 2002 today.Do you or don't you? I think the best may be to go for it as an FS9 version but comment your code like a maniac because you know very well that you're going to be going back in to do maintenance in a few months when you tweak it to optimize for FSX.Scott / Vorlin

July 15, 200619 yr I made the decision months ago that I would not add anything more to FS04 but would wait for FSX.I violated that at IFC Denver and bought the Carenado Cessna 206. This happened partly because I have always liked the 206... partly because I got a great price... 25% off plus no shipping cost... and partly because the French Canadian gal who sold it to me from the AeroSoft booth was so cute. ;)I nearly weakened a 2nd time on the 737-800/BBJ but another potential customer saved me by asking how long before it would be compatible with FSX. This was not via AeroSoft and I wont mention who it was through because of the following. The very condecending reply was that he would have to pay full price again for the FSX version since those development costs were so high. That did it... I was gone! :-lolI have USA Roads, a great US mesh, and several MegaScenerey & MegaCity units along with 4 of the GeoRender sceneries in FS04. This stuff is all great but I really hope that FSX will not need them since each such product adds to the load time. I would really hate to have to make do without the GeoRenders though... they are the best. :)
July 15, 200619 yr I bought Level D 767 last week.I also bought Mega Frankfurt And Germany scenery 4 last week. Then I bought that Aerosoft coast guard chopper last week.I bought Lukla airport last week.Yesterday, I bought Japanese airport 3 or 2 ( I forget) for $20... Cause I was looking for a decent airport close by to fly to Kai Tak (amazing set of freewares).and in process I found a few freeware Japan sceneries here at AVSIM download. So there...:)I really wanted to hold off any new purchases till FSX.... but then I rationlized that I don't do Crack or Cocaine...so what the heck!:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 15, 200619 yr Author I rarely buy addons for FS that I know will not likely work with the next version, or unless it's something i really really want... I'd rather save money up for new hardware for the next version of FS. Dean MountfordUltimate VFR
