July 4, 200619 yr are mac machines even around anymore? I thought they went out with Cabbage Patch Dolls?I still see them in my kids classroom (only because their donated or purchased for $45 new)can you even get software for those things? CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
July 4, 200619 yr Apple's gone and started using Intel CPUs now, though they still insist on shipping their own operating system (which is now a customised FreeBSD clone rather than something homegrown). So Apples are now ultra expensive PCs in fancy cases with overpriced components running a rather expensive custom version of a free operating system.People have succeeded in getting XP to run on them though, so there may still be hope.
July 5, 200619 yr >are mac machines even around anymore? I thought they went>out with Cabbage Patch Dolls?>>I still see them in my kids classroom (only because their>donated or purchased for $45 new)>>can you even get software for those things? So cool! I remember Apple II's in our high school classrooms back in 1988 or so. But the answer is no, I don't think they make apple or whatever anymore.
July 5, 200619 yr >People have succeeded in getting XP to run on them though, so>there may still be hope.Well, 20 years ago Microsoft mimicked Apple's OS to create Windows. Maybe it's time for Mac's to get a payback. :(Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
July 5, 200619 yr Wrong, both Apple and Microsoft took things from yet another OS at roughly the same time.Get your history right kid.

Apple Macs are selling better these days than they have in the last 20 years. Their new OS is supposed to be a lot better than Win XP.I'm not a Mac user, but I don't pretend not to know about them! And they've converted to use Intel CPUs.James
July 5, 200619 yr >Wrong, both Apple and Microsoft took things from yet another>OS at roughly the same time.>Get your history right kid. Here you are, little old man:"In 1984, the Macintosh (commonly called the "Mac") was introduced, furthering the concepts of a user-friendly graphical user interface, and also introducing the mouse for the first time in a personal computer. Apple's success with the Macintosh became a major influence in the development of graphical interfaces elsewhere, with major computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, all appearing on the market within two years of the introduction of the Macintosh."Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
July 5, 200619 yr Apple computers dominates in the professional recording studio / musican market along with graphic design departments, flim studios and creative departments around the world. OS X has a full unix kernal under the hood and is constant 3D (OPENGL) which is what microsoft is doing with vista, but they will use directx. I have a dual boot Macbook Pro and run FS9 on it along with Battlefield 2 and Lock On. I like the fact that some people don't get Macs, it keeps the riff raff out. :-bang
July 5, 200619 yr Ah, Marco.Anyways, the MAC GUI was based off Xerox PARC's work."The first successful commercial GUI product was the Apple Macintosh, which was heavily inspired by PARC's work; Xerox was given Apple stock in exchange for engineer visits and an understanding that Apple would create a GUI product. Much later, in the midst of the Apple v. Microsoft lawsuit in which Apple accused Microsoft of violating its copyright by appropriating the use of the "look and feel" of the Macintosh GUI, Xerox also sued Apple on the same grounds. The lawsuit was dismissed on a technicality
July 6, 200619 yr Commercial Member >which is now a customised FreeBSD clone rather than something>homegrown).OSX probably deserves a bit more credit than that... it's true that the core kernel is based on open-source BSD, but the entire part of the OS that people actually see and use, the Aqua GUI, is entirely "homegrown." The new MacBook Pro is an awesome laptop, Radeon X1600 comes standard on it, pretty much the most powerful video card you can get in a laptop that's still portable and has decent battery life. You can dual boot XP and OSX on it as well - I want one! Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 6, 200619 yr Correct, and so was Windows. Apple just made it to the market a bit earlier, and when Windows was then released the Mac addicts (who were no less millitant than they are now) of course immediately cried foul.

July 10, 200619 yr Author Mac are also predominant in the Film and TV realm and have always had the lead on that market...My next computer will be a Mac, I'm just waiting for the DX10 compatible cards to come out for them...As for Windows on the Mac Platform.... There are 3 different versions...a) bootcamp, XP runs Native on the intel processor at full power:( parallel, allows Windows XP to run in a windowc) crossover mac, will allow windows apps to run under OSX without the need for windowsPeople prove themselves uninformed when they dis mac without having a clue what is possible with it... They don't bother to look at macrumors.com or thinksecret.com or apple.com. They speak from bias only...I am both a Mac and PC user as I work in film and tv. For years I've been on the PC solely for FS use, now I can run FS on Mac hardware I no longer need two machines...Final Cut Pro HD is what I need for my work, now I can also fly FS in the Mac platform I am a happy camper...
