March 28, 20197 yr It doesn't matter which sim I am using, P3D or FSX or which scenery I am flying over, default or Orbx, I always seem to get patches of black water over lakes, seacoasts, and even black creeks. They're are not severe but they are annoying. Is there something I can do with my settings to eliminate them? Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

Noel Have not heard of or seen this before, have you tried changing your water settings to a higher or lower value? Also, are you using the graphics options in your sim, or for your video card? In my case, if there is an overlap in my sim against my graphics card, I use the sim to adjust graphics options. For P3D and Xplane. On my old system, which only ran FS9 and FSX, I used the Nvidia settings to override the sims graphic options. March 29, 20197 yr Black patches on terrain is a missing texture issue, usually a missing or corrupt texture or a texture tile that fails to load. If the black patch is eventually filled with the correct texture, then it is your computer that cannot process and load the textures fast enough to keep up with the demands placed upon it. If it is slow loading textures, turn down the water effects setting in FSX. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
March 29, 20197 yr Author Thanks Sue. That did it. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
