May 25, 200620 yr I'd like to ask if anyone has noticed in any screenshots/videos that there is ice on some of the water textures?Specifically screenshots in mountainous areas, that show ice capped mountains, but without water such as lakes?(Such as the glider and Maul in Switzerland screenshots)My thoughts are that perhaps there is indeed ice on water and that screenshots have been carefully screened so as not to give this 'secret' away?So now I'm just sitting & waiting for pixelpokey to come and say,"No, not this time round" :(
May 25, 200620 yr I don't know if it would be possible - but a lot of people would like to see lakes with water landings in the summer and a hard ice for ski landings in the winter.

May 26, 200620 yr lol what's the point in asking about something that's covered by an NDA at the moment? lol Dean MountfordUltimate VFR
May 26, 200620 yr >How about...>>There is no lake water ice shown in any shots released.>> :(I do believe that reply is reminiscint of what tdragger would usually sling out, tsk tsk :)

May 26, 200620 yr hey i noticed in FS2004 after checking out the ice runway in antarctica that there seems to be some weird cloud distortion when you are that close to the south pole... Any word on if the new earth/terrain engine will resolve that issue? It would be cool if one day rivers could freeze over, as some of the ice runways were in the middle of the ocean in antarctica during summer... didn't check it in winter as it was too dark :(Anyway just curious, not that big of an issue, just some things I've noticed in FS2004 that I never picked up on before...Sorry I'm asking a million questions lately, I have to say, the ACES team sure has sparked my imagination and inspiration, it's just like discovering flight again for the first time with FSX... :) Dean MountfordUltimate VFR
May 26, 200620 yr Yeah I noticed that along time ago but have you ever tried to land down there or up north of Alaska and there is a strange wind that blows your plane sideways and it is really hard to land and if you do land you can't stop.
May 26, 200620 yr The top and bottom of the world are issues.I would guess that as long as landclass and waterclass are different - there would be no way for the program to automatically change a lake from water to ice and back.So the only option will probably be like the folks in Finland did - they created a scenery addon which removed most of the lakes in the country and replaced them with solid ice landclass areas.I just have to remember to turn off that scenery in summer when I fly there.
May 26, 200620 yr Author >The top and bottom of the world are issues.>I believe the MS team has said that the "poles problem" has been fixed. (???) Did any of you hear that? Or maybe I had too much sugar today. :)Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
