May 22, 200620 yr >The extra sales will equate to a larger budget for future>versions..... ;)Hmmm....huh?? :-zhelp So let me get this straight, the more of 'us' who buy FS, the more features we will get?? Don't think so.....
May 22, 200620 yr Larger sales numbers = larger importance for next version development = larger feature list becuase more time and money thrown at development. How's that?Or the alternative.... Flight sim series that fell off the face of the earth becuase it did poorly. It has happened...... CFS series after CFS3... nothing. ;( Dont think it can't happen to FS as well.
May 22, 200620 yr I second the chill pill and suggest to re-think your attitude one more time.Even if the new FS would be an arcade game aimed at 7 year olds, if it has averything to serve as a perfect base for add-on development, would that really be a bad thing? Only because those kids play stupid things with it?Important is only what is made out of a new FS version. Whatever nonsense might me in the package, you have the freedom to make use of it or not.I think we need to be thankful for any improvement in the FS world, even if that means FS moves towards the mainstream gaming community. For me, and I think for some others too, the basis FS product is only the foundation for those quality add-ons from FlyTampa, PMDG etc. which transform FS into what I want it to be. As long as such add-ons can be produced, as long I'll stay being an FS customer. The day FS becomes a "closed" game only with no chance for add-ons will be the day I'll cease buying. FS as it is delivered is pretty unusable for me. It's the add-ons which make the value of "my" sim, as I already said. MS will never ever produce something close to an LDS767...It doesn't harm to have better graphics and this and that gimmick as well IMHO. To expect that FS should only be made for "serious" people/simmers would mean lower sales figures for MS, a massive price increase and more than probably the end of FS.So, I already know I'm gonna buy my copy of FSX the day it's available from my local reseller. But I know as well that it will start to be really useful for me only after the first quality airliner will be released (anxiously waiting for the A320s...).So, I think ranting serves nobody, let's be happy about a new version, however game-ish it may be. The only alternative (X-Plane) is not a real alternative since developers work on FS. So it's not a real alternative at all..."Join the best, ********** the rest"Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. Respice, lector: In nihil ab nihilo quam cito recidimus.
May 23, 200620 yr What do you mean with that?Cut the guy some slack. He's been working around the clock to deliver a product that tries to satify every customer. There are more people out there that would like to fly. Everything here (in my opinion) has to be about the hardcore, die-hard simmer. Maybe that is what his post is all about, that he has to make a produkt with a wider range of customers. A lot of people a complaing, even do the final product is'nd released, and we don't know all features. There will alway's be room for discussion, about flightmodels, grafics, realism, when FSX hit's the store's.(btw, i cross posted, so sew me)
