Trick Oculus rift into smooth frames between 22-45

Featured Replies

Discovered this by accident, pressed a wrong key by mistake while starting x-plane 11.

I know it seems improbable but it works for me at any frame rate above 22 and is repeatable after computer restart.

First off you need Oculus tray tools and set it to start Oculus home (ASW off)

  1. set windows sound output to rift headphones

  2. start Oculus home

  3. start xp11 and start flight

  4. After flight has loaded start Oculus tray tools (which will restart Oculus home)

  5. change to x-plane VR mode.

I don't know why but frames (for me at least) are smooth at any frame rate above 22 !!!

it does not appear to put any further load on either cpu or gpu

Computer specs. Cpu intel 6700k oc to 4.7ghz gpu 1080ti not oc'd, 16 gb ram @3200htz

software xp11.33, Just flight Baron B52, GTN 750, Orbx TE GB south, Ultra weather XP 2.5, super sampling set to 1.7 by OTT

With the above I have between 25 and 40 smooth frames, no stutters to speak off.

Please let me know if it works for you or if its unique to my computer.

111 views and no one tried it?

Mick

I tried it shortly. If I start oculus home then Xplane11 starts in VR on my system...... How do I switch to vr mode if xplane11 does this by itself?

My baby boy was born on Saturday so little time to experiment......

Congratulations.

My baby boy is 46😏

Not sure what is happening.

Try next time you shut down x-plane make sure you exit from vr mode first.

I hope this works for you Jozeff as for me at least this is the only way to achieve smooth frames below 45fps

I've had some success toggling the "45fps ASW" setting on and off while the Oculus VR system is running. Sometimes toggling it a few times will fix motion artifacts and improve smoothness.
