May 7, 20197 yr Hey Captains: I just updated my P3D to V4.5 and fly with PMDG 747 and QW 787. In order to solve the Anti-aliasing problem, I enabled 4xSGSS in Nvidia inspector, looks good but FPS dropped dramatically. Is there a way to resolve the anti-aliasing problem for these two aircraft without kill FPS performance? Thanks and happy fly!

May 7, 20197 yr SGSS AA is very GPU intensive, especially if you are flying in heavy clouds or using dynamic lighting. I can't run that type of AA anymore in those conditions even with a 2080ti. Alan

Is there any other way to run PMDG 747 and QW787 normally without anti-aliasing problem? Thanks
May 7, 20197 yr P3D AA doesn't work properly with PBR unfortunately. At the moment SGSS seems to be the only solution.

In my experience and opinion, The way to solve this FPS issue is to run in 4K. Unfortunately one needs a beefy CPU and GFX card (like GTX 1080ti) to accomplish this. I have no "jaggie" issues with QW 787. No need to run 4XSGSS. In fact you should just run default settings in the Nividea Control Panel. Throw away the Nvidea Inspector. All the latter does is induce "tweakitis." Find a good basic setting, turn of FPS counter and have fun.

You can run P3D easily at 4k as I do. This will solve your AA issues. You have plenty of video card to do so.

I run at 4k and MSAA and it looks like this on my screen: Skully check your email....you may have a link to something shiny. 😉 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

I set my P3D texture resolution to 4096x4096, 8xMSAA but still have that AA problem.
May 8, 20197 yr 4K setting should be 3840 x 2160, higher than that you will have performance issues. Leave your card and sim AA settings to default. What size / type monitor do you use? Is it 4K capable?
May 10, 20197 yr Known problem. They are 'working on it'. I referred to it on the PMDG forums as an 'artefact of multiple light sources', which could NOT be fixed. As predicted I was immediately berated, as they don't like anything negative being said...... no surprise there ! Apparently there is a technical term for it - "Specular Aliasing". I haven't looked into it, but given that PBR depends on the painter's skill, I predict that the side-effects of PBR will vary a lot, going forward. I think it is an unecessary rod, that LM have created for their own back. I rolled back my PMDG textures to an earlier version. As with *dynamic lighting, PBR should never have seen the light of day.... pun intended. *(I switched on PMDG dynamic lighting, and the Orbx Stockholm airport dynamic lighting - just for a laugh - and my FPS went from 70 to 14 .... nuff said ?)
