Ah, the ever-useful “google it” answer. I tried it like you suggested, and the definition of “crib” is:

“copy (another person's work) illicitly or without acknowledgement.”

Presumably not what was meant in this case!

“Crib sheet” is a fairly obscure English term in modern usage, but could be taken to mean a summary sheet (normally for use pre-exam).

To the guy who suggested just clicking on the link, that also wouldn’t help this poster unless he’s got a FSL account (you’ll just get an error otherwise).

Seriously, chaps, how hard is it to give someone - who many not be a native English speaker, like many around here - a simple, positive one sentence answer?

The term "Crib" was a term often used at Betchley Park in WW2. The secret decipher complex that was only made public 50 years after the war.

Cribs were created to help decipher Enigma machines.
