Microsoft hint: FSX update?

And sold the rights to Lockheed Martin

Lockheed does not need the rights.  What they have (FSX-ESP) is far better than FSX.  FSX-ESP was being developed even during the release of FSX by a completely different group of techs.  When the Aces Team were all released by Microsoft, FSX-ESP development continued.  Read the description of P3D we placed at the top of the P3D Forum (which I copied from the Lockheed site).

Dovetail never got any rights from Microsoft other than approval to place FSX on Steam.  The minor mods they made in the FSX.cfg and other places did not require any approval.  Microsoft will never sell the license and no reason they should.  I would like them to get rid of the requirement to activate the product though.  I have been using the same boxed FSX for several years and I can install it and activate it as many time as I want because I have one or two pieces of hardware that was recorded when I first activated it.  But, I think we would have a lot of members using it if they did not have to activate it.  I doubt Microsoft cares about getting fresh new blood in the FS community (and increasing the memberships here at AVSIM!!!).

Maybe Microsoft is going to allow one in every 25 buyers of FSX and MFS get a full refund on what they paid. Like FSTramp and FSNAV used to do... (just kidding).
