The ATC window opens and I can tune traffic or ground, but I don't get any output:

Announce clear:

top exotic girl names

No display or sound.

Select runway:

Still no sound and no sound from AI.

Any ideas?

I will assume that you are NOT having a CTD, but just no ATC sound Have you checked your sound settings to make sure you are not in any "surround sound" environment or ATC is being sent to headphones?

The engine and flap sounds are ok. It is only ATC and the responses are not being displayed in the ATC window.

I do have a file backup of FSX but restoring the files made no difference.

I also have a working system on my other (W10) machine from which I could copy files.

I need to know which files output to the ATC window.

In FSX menu, select Options->Settings->general.

When the dialog box appears, look at the right side pane.

Should see option "Show message log in ATC menu"

Make sure it's enabled.

I am not positive, but anything to do with ATC is in the atc folder in your main Sound folder.  About 649MB worth.

not to state the obviouse but your avionics are on, right?
