Let there be light

Featured Replies

We've come a long way in having a much improved atmospheric lighting in 20 years !  As I recall, FS9 was much better than FS2k2 then the clamour of simmers  for shadows including cloud shadows was nicely implemented with a workable DX10 (remember Steve's fixer 😊?) , giving a much better sense of depth.

But the atmospheric light is still rudimentary, harsh, somewhat binary. There are addons to mitigate that (PTA, REX stuff etc.) but any tweaking has lost  all its fun for me long ago.  What we see in the trailer looks good. But  I expect that FS20 will give us straight from the box (so to speak as there won't probably be any box) a reasonable approximation without any sliders to tweak !

Have seen the thread what we want I think you will find it`s covered just about everything. don't worry about me carry on.

The "we want " thread is full of interesting ideas but a bit lengthy now as it contains a lot of diversions . I thought it might be good to come back to some topics listed there for further more focused discussions. I might be wrong but my goal is certainly not to increase the number of threads.

I'm doing my best along with the other Mods to keep these threads on track. I have cleaned up the what we want thread but as stated it is getting a bit long in the tooth and losing it's effectiveness due to rambling posts. Eventually we will probably put it out of its misery.

Granted I was guilty of participating in one conversation but I've moved on.

With the number of forums we have we try to stay on top but sometimes it is tough and takes some time.

If you see the thread drifting, you can bet one of us will be along in a bit to clean it up.  If something really is a problem report it or PM a Mod.

Thank you.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, rambling can also be part of the fun 😊
