August 30, 20196 yr Yes, you're right with both - dynamically lit trees and much better stars. Finally the stars near horizon are not as visible as those in the zenith. P3D is always distracting me when flying in early dusk and seeing bright dots at the horizon that are not aircraft lights.
August 30, 20196 yr The distance the lights go to the horizon is also a major deal. That's the kind of thing you don't think about until you notice it, then it drives you nuts, i.e. XP11's short draw distance for the night lighting (they've rigged a semi-fix now using a lighted ground texture that picks up after the lights end but that doesn't work with orthos).
August 30, 20196 yr Another thing is that this video is fairly low level. It looks to be at least ZL17 or 18, which is pretty impressive resolution. It also once again confirms that there has to be a streaming solution for the orthos. It's simply not possible to do even just the United States and store it locally (ok, it's technically possible if you have dozens of terabytes of storage but not practical for a game to be released with).
