January 5, 200620 yr That's sadly impossible.Such a system is so diverse between aircraft types that it would work properly with only one or two.You can't just take a 737NG model and apply that to say an L1011 and expect it to be correct. And a more generic model that needs extensive tuning is pretty much what's available to us now :)
January 5, 200620 yr On the 2 pictures with the tanker and helicopter and the sun in the background it looks like the sun has a "bloom" effect. Could this be High Dynamic Range (HDR) at work, previewed on that Half Life 2: Lost Coast proof-of-concept demo? That is one #### of system hungry effect if it is!FSX is looking very good.Far more to come I think.Rojan
January 5, 200620 yr no, the reason is that the punters who buy those addons want every nut and bolt modelled, want to have doorhandles that are animated and actually work, want flushing toilets, cabin lights with integrated failures, and things like that.
January 5, 200620 yr As an FU3 user (who has no intention of ever trying to fly a real plane), having the trim set to neutral at the start is a big plus for me. Since I never did work out how to GET it to neutral when using MSFS, it obviously isn't as intuitive a task as it should be !!!Chris Low. January 5, 200620 yr Absolutely right (brucets), and this is something that many of the "heavy" pilots fail to understand. If I decide to fly a 747, then I want to "hand fly" it. I don't want to be messing around with autopilots and accurate checklists. I just want to fly it "low and slow", so that I can enjoy looking at the scenery whilst flying a big, heavy jet. This is what I do with the 747 in FU3, and it performs wonderfully. Yes, it's a struggle to get the b*****d to turn quickly enough for me to get it lined up with the runway, but I don't care. That's how I want to fly it !Even so, I still like to be able to interact with a decent ATC system at the same time. It isn't as if I just take the plane up, and completely ignore the ATC commands. One of the many reasons that I enjoy using FU3 is because of the interactive ATC system, and there is no reason why I can't enjoy taking advantage of this, whilst also flying around at 180 knots with 20 degrees of flaps and NEUTRAL TRIM ! Of course, FU3 enables me to do this, but MSFS has always had problems understanding that this type of flying is even possible !Chris Low.PS. I said "possible", not "real world desirable". This is flight SIMULATION after all. January 5, 200620 yr >To me that was only improvments for the VFR category. But how>about us level 330 guys? Talking about level 330 - will the scenery still look "tiled"?. I am afraid it will.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
January 5, 200620 yr >WEATHER my biggest question? is the weather FS9 or is there>going to be a major rebuild of the weather engine based on a>truly dynamic weather engine?Peter,Weather is also very important to me however I see little of hope of such ambitious features you are listing. Instead I see incremental improvement to weather and to this end I would like to ses fixed: overcast and visibility issues. That would certainly improve the weather in a significant way.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
January 5, 200620 yr For the initial press release the details don't exactly impress me and it's good to see others feeling the same. I pray they have changed weather systems and other core stuff mentioned and I'm looking forward to this but, I'm not getting my hopes up because this feels like another FS2002-FS2004 "update" situation. How long will it be between the COF release and FSX? Will the changes really justify the length of time between the two? I hope it's not just some birds, new reflections and new shipping containers. They have to start changing important things sometime or else FSXX isn't going to be very exciting!Maybe Microsoft should have an "FSX Xtreme" (How cool does that sound?) version like the "pro" they used to do for hard core simmers. Don't even get me started on that pathetic marketing ploy. If you had an FS hybrid with the best bits (like weather) similar to other sims, how much would you pay? I'd bet my right arm half the people in this forum would WANT IT and pay AT LEAST 100 dollars. Be honest. More???Before I get my nuts kicked in, I admit I'm basing this on past releases. Basically, nothing. A few pictures. I can't tell what new stuff might be there from a few pics and I'm optimistic. It's going to be fun seeing what new details emerge and exploring this sim when it's out.It looks great but looks aren't everything ;-) Please don't make this an(other) Anti-climax Microsoft.Pretty please? :-haloPyjamas
