Sometimes we learn more by whats not visible than what we are shown.Firstly waking up in Europe it is often the case that we miss initial reactions to releases and often find that overnight there are tons of replies to new postings.Wading through those replies there seems to be no mention of whats NOT shown. What is shown is truly stunning and my congratulations to the MS team.Questions and answers! well there are no panel or aircraft interior shots. How will MS present the cockpit interior invironment? Will we still have the 2D / VC presentation or is there some new way of showing panels and their subsystems? Will there be interior dynamics? Active co-pilots, stewardesses, passengers etc? Will there be a full database of Sid/Stars enroute points etc.ATC how will that be expanded with different voices in different parts of the world?Scenery will all the scenery be so stunning or are those screens taken from intense detail locations?WEATHER my biggest question? is the weather FS9 or is there going to be a major rebuild of the weather engine based on a truly dynamic weather engine? Are there going to be active fronts, Low and high pressure systems with winds moving in the correct sense? Will there be correct cloud formations associated with these fronts pressure systems. Will winds follow contours with gusts and shear. Will jetstreams be modelled with accociated clear air turbulence.Icing, thunderstorms, cloud density. Will we still take off in atrocious weather with fog and low cloud to after passing 10000 feet be flying in a good VFR day?FLIGHT DYNAMICS Are there any new features which are going to be added especially regarding slow flight? So many questions ????????????????????????????????????WHAT ARE YOURS????????????????????????????????????????Peter nb cant wait and congrats MS team on a stunning start

"FLIGHT DYNAMICS Are there any new features which are going to be added especially regarding slow flight?"That sounds like a question that I would have asked :-)Oh, and initialising the plane with NEUTRAL trim would help me a LOT.Chris Low.

Flight dynamics trumps everything. That is followed by weather which is next followed by the cockpit. Looks like the Bill Gates dictum, from Vista, that the visual effects are paramount has permeated the flight simulator as based on the initial commentary from the Company. If the entire update was based upon the Q&A you might conclude that collecting model airplanes and viewing geography out-weigh flight. As has been said here countless times the market, as perceived by Microsoft, will dictate the changes to products. While true flight simulation (within the usual limits of cost, etc.) may be the goal of a small cadre, the marketplace probably is more enticed by visuals. The idea is to get the product past the cash register. This is undoubtedly not the objective of the Flight Simulator team but their market opinions are at the same level as ours.We can only hope that our priorities are considered.

Hmmm. Looks a lot like Fs2004 with added FX and Auto gen. Not bad though! :-)Weather engine? Hmmm.Pyjamas

Peter you are correct about Weather (Actualy I have learned from you and some real photos of you, how important Weather is)I will agree with Pyjamas too.Regarding Cockpit & FDE : In Q&A say that they are testing current addons. Maybe this is a clue (at least backwards compatibility)Most probably we will have both C+ made gauges (DLLS) and XML based.I hope they will make VC refresh rate adjustable.MS must open the doors to Add-on developers, NOT let them to open the doors by their own. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpgSamuel KalachorasAthensGreece

Waiting for the 64-bit PSION Flightsim for ZX-Spectrum ////

Hi,To be real honest,...I am not that impressed with the new screenshots of FSX.To me that was only improvments for the VFR category. But how about us level 330 guys? What about accurate system simulation? Ofcourse that can not be shown on screenshots,..but it will be very interesting to see what have been done in that category. ;-)Personally I couldn

FSX supporting SLI is high on my list.Flight dynamics, accurate representation of visibilty without sudden jumps, sloping runways. The birds are a good idea as that will aid realism for VFR flight.Ray Keattch

To put it simply, I want to know what is going on behind the scenes. Is this just fs9 + some high res textures, or is there a whole new engine behind everything? Like everyone else said, weather, FDEs, etc. Of course, we can guess all we want, but we're a long way from knowing anything right now.

We should of course bear in mind that;1. These are only the FIRST previews just to show off some visuals! I'm sure there's a LOT more to come :)2. There's a full YEAR until this thing is released. I'm pretty sure it'll be even better ;)

99% of the customer base couldn't care less whether there's a DING! when they flip the fasten seatbelts switch, get over it.You'll NEVER see something like the PMDG 737 or Dreamfleet 727 in FS by default, those things appeal to far too small a segment of the userbase (and scare away far too many of the rest) to make it worth the while.

Neutral trim? why would you want that unatural step?Thats what pre flights are for. You need to check the trim before you even start the engine. In real world, I have seen trim sit in all kinds of positions prior to starting.:)

I agree 100% with jwenting. I spend up to 10+ hrs a day between 'flying' FS9 and the AVSIM forum; and I doubt there are many folks on these forums that are more enthused about the whole concept of flight simming and airplanes in general, though I am not any kind of a real pilot. I even spent a planeload of money on a top drawer system exclusively for FS9. Outside of Wings Of Power the only airplane addon I have ever purchased, since I started simming in 03, is PMDG 737NG which lies dormant on my hard drive. I have read the manual, tried about a dozen times to complete the tutorial (only once successfully)and have tried to follow various folks advice on this forum, including other tutorials, as to getting up to speed with it. I am just NOT interested, as it turns out, in this level of complexity. I would love to have a fleet of jetliners with this level of quality in terms of graphics and handling (I love just taxiing the PMDG 737!), but thats it. I'm not the least bit interested in downloading sids and stars or programming the FMC. The default system is challenging enough for me (although the ATC needs proper accents, etc).I don't buy scenery and environment addons, although I do have RealScene installed. I invested in Ultimate Traffic, but after hours of tinkering I can't seem to populate major airports with an adequate number of aircraft---except Denver. Bottom line is---I'll pay up to $100, maybe even more, for FS every couple years if it improves on the scenery, weather and other aspects, but leaves the complex aircraft systems to the outside developers. If all the default jetliners become ultra sophisticated I'll have to find something else to do in retirement.

I would have liked to see some of the airports. The pictures were nice of the cities and country side, but the only thing close of seeing an airport was the jet setting on the tarmac.

I am talking about that MS should already have advanced systems implemented in the platform, inorder for the addon developers to keep down the development costs. Because if the addon costs for the enduser keeps rising like it has been doing recently, I don
