TA and TL on charts reminder

Featured Replies

Hi,

My memory is having a wrong route and i keep forgetting when i should pay attention to TransAltitude and TransitionLevel.

Sometimes both are available on charts and sometimes only one of them is displayed.

Normally ATC will give you a METAR and a TL but not a TA .

So please help switch to local air pressure and vice versa  during approach and takeoff ? :-)

I am aware of ATC giving a bigger altitude or TL than your actually position granded you to set TL OR TA right away.

Thanks

Transition altitude is when you are in altitude going up to levels. Transition level is when you are in levels going down to altitudes.

Are you sure? Normally only TA is on the charts since it's the fixed value. TL depends on QNH.

At standard QNH TL is 1000ft above TA and with decreasing pressure TL increases in 500ft steps.
