I own all the PMDG FS2Crew products (which I've enjoyed without issue), and I've trained the speech recognition software a hundred times, but there are certain trouble phrases that for the life of me I cannot get the FS2Crew MD80 copilot to recognize.

These trouble phrases are:

"Passing flight level <FL> … NOW" (always recognizes it as "NO")

"Slats up / slats retract" (always recognizes it as "flaps up / flaps retract")

I can say these phrases 100,000 times and it's a miracle before my FO will recognize them. Any suggestions? For now I have to just skip using these phrases 😞

"Now"... Not sure, just stress the "w" sound.

You can practice on the ground saying "now".

 

For the other one.

There is no "slats up" command.

This is how it should go:

You would say: "Flaps up"... then when the flaps are up, you'd say "Slats retract".

 

 

 

 

Yep, I definitely go "nowwwwww" and like one time in 1,000 it will get it; all the other times it hears "no".

When I say "slats retract" it recognizes it as "flaps retract" and the FO responds with "flaps up!"

As an American, you should get extremely high speech recognition results.

Pls try this:

1. Delete your voice profile in the Advanced Speech Setting menu.

2. Create a new one.

3. Re-train your voice.

OK, I deleted and re-trained a new profile.

Now when I say "Slats retract", it hears "flaps retracted", and the FO does nothing.

If I say "Slats up", it hears "slats up", but the FO still does nothing.

It recognizes "now" better now, so much better that it's recognizing even more phrases as "now" 😉

Hmmmm, are you saying "Stats retract" as a single phrase?

Don't pause between words.

 

Make sure the "retract" part is said clearly.

Hi Byork.  I have the same issue at my Maddog,when i say "slats retract the fo show Flaps retract insted... have tried many many times but still not going to say slats retract :/ have trained my computer and delete profile twice but Green bar show Flaps insted of Slats

As I wrote above, try adjusting the way you speak.  "Slats retract" is in the grammar file exactly as written.

well have done that but greenbar show only flaps retract... 

Not much more I can say... sometimes it helps to speak with an American accent.
