Magically better FPS!

LOLBy the way Haraldh, if that is your true age, 63 is very young :) Thank you everyone for the replies, this sudden increase of around 6 to 10 FPS must be due to the new drivers released for both video cards. That is a great sign of relief, as now I can use FSX Beta with out feeling like I am controlling a Rover on Mars :-lolThings hopefully can only get better with the final release. That should be great news for all those worried about updating their computers to duo 2core, $500 plus SLI Video cards etc. :)

Thanks! Two more years before retirement, but you are not older than how you feel!I certainly noticed some increase of fps, even if we aren't talking about many 10's here!I am happy with 30-40, which makes the flying enough fluent (my view!)Of course, the slidings are not all at the far right (Ultra High), but enough far to make most scenery fully visible! At crowded airports I will have around 20, but I prefer that to more empty ones!Haraldh F.

Let us think these things through: Nvidia long ago stopped enhancing their driver releases for the old sim. New sim is about to be released, and will immediately assume the usual role of Benchmark for the capabilities of the cards. It's not magic, it's Nvidia putting in some work developing drivers that will get the best out of FSX. And they had better, because they also need to be wroking very, very closely with MSFS team to develop the first DX10 drivers for the upgrade. Not magic, behind-the-scenes working!Allcott

There won't be a magic solution - it will be a hardware upgrade that will be needed, I think we all see that coming! But your post does show up all those who have posted aboutolder drivers being better for FS. Clearly that is no longer the case! Experimentation is the answer, and part of the fun!Allcott

May I ask which Nvidia drivers you've upgraded to?

Ken

I used the 91.47!Haraldh F.

For a long time people fixated on the 77.77 driver or whatever. And I did hold on that one for a long time. But lately I got the itch, installed 9x.xx and did before and after comparisons. The 9x.xx series drivers seem to do better for my setup. The only problem is I don't like the new nVidia control panel. I stick with the old one.RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.

I am just glad that we are able to use the old one :)

I use to get a lot of train sets for my birthday.Apple IIe and FS with state of the art 3D graphics, well ok, Vector Graphics! Hehehe. And to think we complain about today
