SmallPartRejectRadius

Featured Replies

So, I downloaded the SDK for P3DV4.5+, I scanned the learning center....I used the search features. And I could find nothing about this topic.

After an hour of wasted time I think my best bet would be to talk to the experts here.

I am using SimAddons scenery, I just installed all three national packages.

I ran the scenery management tool and its says.

"Check Prepar3D.cfg
Missing IMAGE_PIXELS_FOR_AUTOGEN_POLYGONS=128 in Prepar3D.cfg
You should add this entry under TERRAIN to NOT have trees on the runways.

Missing SmallPartRejectRadius=4 in Prepar3D.cfg
You should add this entry under SCENERY to have more FPS."

So I am trying to find out what in heck this command is or does...and the SDK search came up with nothing.

1. Can someone please update me on this command?

2. How does one easily find the description of these commands in the SDK, which I assume is where this would be located.

As best I know, SmallPartRejectRadius = x means that any detail less than 4 pixels will not be displayed.  While this may improve performance, it also leads to missing antennas etc that suddenly pop into view as you get closer..

This has been around for a while..

Thanks Bert...Interesting in several respects. I would have never thought to look up something FSX for this item.

I don't use anything FSX anymore, I have the AVSIM P3D guidebook, P3D SDK online info and I searched in P3D forums and P3D here and didn't get much of anything and yet there it is under FSX stuff. When I search the P3D online SDK it finds nothing.

I'm just wondering if this is old code stuff and not part or necessary for P3D.

I don't have any tweaks in my p3d.cfg and prefer to keep it that way. And the other stated tweak autogen polys, I don't have any trees on my runways so what is that all about?

I guess I better post over at SimAddons and ask, its just that Ralph is a one man show and it can take a while before he gets back to you on questions.

Sorry got distracted with the new XP11 Global Scenery release, and some 200 posts, typical excitment on new releases like this...which by the way is a supurb product at the $30 price point.

OK back to the question, I have found, with help from SimAddons the specifics on this command line. I get it now. I have resisted any tweaks with P3DV3, 4 and 4.5+ but couple days ago I was getting annoying pauses and low frames in cockpits of some planes, driving me nuts.

So I will try this one and a couple others, once again tweaking! Ughh!
