"Could not retrieve information for this specific aircraft!"

Recommended Posts

Hi Gerald,

..."This application is going to terminate"..and so...

This is the message I have with my Bonanza A2A...

I know that MCE does not have specific parameters for this aircraft but normally it should at least accept it, if only to be able to manage ATC (RC or PF3).

This is the very first time I have had this message. Of course, latest version of MCE, P3Dv4.5.

Thank you and Regards,

Richard

Sure, even if aircraft isn't on the fully supported list, MCE is guaranteed to load.

Please send "aircraft.cfg" file to support and we'll get it to load sometime next week.

Thanks a lot for support.

Hi Franck,

It's not for the crew, MCE serves as a voice interface between ATC and me (e. g. Radar Contact, PF3 or native ATC). These programs originally work with the keyboard or mouse. MCE allows me to perform these procedures myself vocally. In addition, if I wish, I can ask the FO to manage ATC (very practical in some situations, such as in reality).

Got file and follow-up

If it's P3D V4, then maybe issue is that there is no reference to aircraft location in "Add-ons.cfg" file found under C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\ folder.

Could you post the content of the file and let me know where you installed Bonanza Simobject folder (\My Documents\ or other)?

Done but no change...

EDIT: the other A2A aircraft such as the Cherokee and Comanche are perfectly recognized by MCE. They are obviously located in the same path as the Bonanza. Surprising! Where can it block?

MCE needs to locate the "aircraft.cfg" file.

It needs to be directed to the folder that contains it

Make sure the entry you added is still there, you never know if it wasn't saved by any chance. Say, file locked in read-only

Richard

If you don't mind, one workaround would be to copy the entire Bonanza aircraft folder and paste it to \Prepar3D main installation folder\SimObjects\Airplanes\  folder.

Hi Gerald,

Ok, I just cracked the code of the "Secret Box" (I love these puzzles)😎.

So,

when comparing two Aircraft.cfg files, the Comanche (working) and the Bonanza (issue), I found that the Comanche format is in ANSI while the Bonanza was in UTF-8 (I can't remember under what circumstances). At first I tried to save the Bonanza file in ANSI (like the Comanche file), when saving, a warning message pointed out to me that there were special codes (Unicode) in the file and that there could be problems confirming the backup. So I finally saved the Aircraft.cfg from the Bonanza in Unicode. MCE finally recognizes this!

I'm not an expert in text file code, it's just that when I looked on the forums, I saw that a bad format could have some consequences.
It was of course not a MCE-related problem, sorry to have wasted your time with this stuff...

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Richard

Good find.

Good to remind people about that.

It is indeed one of the subtle issues that can leave you head scratching for a while.

I can't edit anymore the topic title. If you have the power, is it possible to add to the title "Solved"?
