FS2002

Featured Replies

Hi all, well all? Don't think so.I would like to know if there are still some fs2002 users left. if so, I would like to have all of them come to this thread in order to discuss the (limited) possibilities there still are for using all the new add ons. For one thing, as an example, lots of fs2004 aircraft work in fs2002, sometimes you have to adapt them a little bit, but they can be used and hardly anybody knows. Another example is the elevated airports or carriers that are troublesome in FS2004 but are easier to make in fs2002 using 'oldfashioned' programs like FSSC and Airport3.0. To make the AI land on these carriers is still another thing, but who knows. It would be nice to gather the last remnants of these fs2002 users to avoid them dying out too soon (I am not going to start a breeding program though).Let's hear from you.Roby

I I SIR ! Reporting for duty SIR ! Hi Roby !Still using FS2002. The textures are SO much sharper ! With a Pentium 1000, and a 32meg video card, forgetabout the big fat 2004 cow, for me. . . B-) I do sceneries, and I make them2002 AND 2004 compatible, always, and FREE !http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View I fly near CYHU, virtual and real. I have such a computer, because I keep the $$$.cc formy real flights, in rented Cessna 172N. ;-) So, check one more 2002 user. Blue skies.

Hi Roby,I still use FS2002 and probably will for the indeterminate future. I also have FS2004, but uninstalled it and put it back in the box. It seemed to be mostly more environmental eye candy and didn't run as well on my PC. FS2002 runs smooth as silk and I don't need to use the disc to run it (YEEHAW!!).I have all the planes I want and am about maxed out on addon scenery. If I want a better looking plane, I know how to get around well enough in Paint Shop Pro to 'refurbish' an existing plane. I have quite a few FS2004 'only' planes working well, mostly FFX/ Kittyhawk 737's and DC-9's and Aerosim's L-1011's.From the early comments on FSX, I will probably pass, not going to upgrade my PC for the sake of a game.Glad to hear there are more of us still around.Cheers,Bob

I still use FS2002 :) FS2004 never really appealed to me. Here are some reasons why:1) Most FS2004 planes work in FS2002!!! Aircraft with dynamic virtual cockpits don't work.2) FS2004 was released only 20 months after FS2002. The gap was too short, and I was happy with FS8 ;-)3) I have over 300 aircraft in FS2002. Some don't work in FS2004, and quite a few panels don't work in FSX :(FS2002 will remain on my hard drive for another 2 years. I will buy FSX, but it will be a slow transition between FSX and FS8 :).

Hi all,I am glad I still found some FS2002ers left. Wish AVSIM would make a separate subdivision for it on the forums. Why am I still on fs8? For one, because my computer cannot handle FS9 and also because FS6 ran better than FS7 and only FS8 made the difference. Buying a new computer every two years is a bit too much. Therefore I will be getting myself a new one in about a year or so with FSX and probably Vista and DX10.In the meantime there is still so much to do, add and improve in FS8.One of the examples I have been working on is the carriers. We have some nice API's of CV's, we have some nice F-18, Prowler and Viking AI planes, heli's (SH60), and arrestor cables but the .air and .cfg files are not tweaked for carrier take off and landing. The fs9 settings for those AI planes do not work for fs8. This is one of the challenges I am still at.As for real flying, I only tried it inadvertently once when I was painting the top of the chimney. I landed badly.I do fly a lot as a passenger, and before each flight I make the same flight on my PC, just for fun. Heli's I like a lot as well from the time I took one at dusk from the roof of a downtown Manhattan building to JFK. That was a beauuutiful ride.Anyway, is somebody interested in these carriers and their AI?RobyPS There are still a couple FS8ers left on the FS2002 forum of Flightsim

hello,Unforunately FS2002 topic is snowed under by lots of FSX messages.I am going to make a carrier fleet with AI on it in FS2002. I will explain in the FS2002 forum om Flightsim although I wished it could have been somewhere overhere.Roby

I still use FS2002 along with FS2004 mainly because I can get solid overcast layers in FS2002 and not in FS2004.I hate the weather engine in FS2004 for shooting low visibility, IFR approahes!Scott

Hi there,I haven't the faintest whether you can perform low visibility approaches in FS2004. As you said, it is possible in FS2002. And,gee, those cloud layers can sometimes be very, very low. Have you tried fog yet? You can do it with FSUIPC. Perhaps in FS2004 as well. I have never heard anybody complain about this.Roby

By the way Jean,I am not so very military minded, so stop saying "yesss sir". I hate commands (except in FS, of course). Better would be: "Hey, I wouldn't mind telling you I am still on FS8. Would you appreciate my joining the FS8 club? N'y aurait-il pas d'inconv

It's good to see other FS2002 users! We do exist. I uploaded a plane for FS2004 and it was downloaded 9000 times. I uploaded an FS2002 version of the same plane and it was downloaded 1000 times!

Hi,So, apparently, we are outnumbered by far.Still, I would like to have a FS8 forum although the AVSIM guys do not want to. Why can't it be like in flightsim?Just wondering. It is not that I am not interested in other forums, on the contrary, but to find an FS8 issue is almost like a search for the holy grail.Roby

WOW guys I stil fly my FS1 on my IBM (1982) and I will stick with that!!!Stelios

You can get a solid overcast in 2002????Maybe Im gonna go pick it up at the local future shop store to see if it will look better as I have to turn alot of sliders down in 2004.I just dont wanna lose all my add-ons, I have pimgee 737,LevelD 767, aeroworx KA200, a few carenados, active sky, fspax2004 etc. etc.Anyone know if these will work in 2002.Thanks

Hi,Just for interests sake show us a picture of a 'solid overcast' as I never had FS2002:-shy but I lessen the visibility etc in FS9 and get fairly foggy conditions, but it'd be good to see the real deal!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/156408.jpg ..and if it's very much more interesting, then maybe go and get a copy of FS2002All the best,Andy.
