September 20, 200619 yr Okay, I have the FP Beta, but I dont believe that I can answer my own question so Im hoping someone who knows the real deal can shed light on these issues.1) In shared skies/Multiplayer, does or does not the AI, or at least the AI Ground Equipment, show up?2) Is there any possible way to network two machines on a LAN vs. going to Game Spy or some other Server? (man I hope so)MOST IMPORTANTLY3) When one aircraft has primary control (the Pilot Flying) I understand that only one person can manuever the aircraft, but can the co-pilot manipulate radios, ATC, NAVS, lights, switches, flaps, etc?I really do thank you all for the correct answers (not speculation) because Im working on a sim project that depends on this info. Thanks again,Eric TomlinKAYS

(man I hope so)>We were talking about this at the AVSIM conference, but I never double checked it...but I think you have to log in to Gamespy even to get to the LAN or direct connect screen. But there are local network and direct to IP connections available. It should be noted, something that I didn't realize before, is that Gamespy is only used for login and matchmaking in the lobby, and then it's back into Flight Sim.>MOST IMPORTANTLY>>3) When one aircraft has primary control (the Pilot Flying) I>understand that only one person can manuever the aircraft, but>can the co-pilot manipulate radios, ATC, NAVS, lights,>switches, flaps, etc?>Yep. Both pilots have access to everything at all times except the yoke, rudder, throttle, etc. All switches, radios, and devices are available to either pilot at any time.>I really do thank you all for the correct answers (not>speculation) because Im working on a sim project that depends>on this info.>>Thanks again,>>Eric Tomlin>KAYS
September 20, 200619 yr However, it's my understanding that with the new activation procedure, you must buy one copy of FSX for each computer you install it on.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
September 20, 200619 yr A LAN connected MP session does not require Gamespy. We fly on LAN all the time in the office (or as much as we can anyway).
September 20, 200619 yr >A LAN connected MP session does not require Gamespy. We fly>on LAN all the time in the office (or as much as we can>anyway).Ok, well there's your answer. Like I said, we were talking about it and weren't sure.I'd love to see a massive shared skies lan room at the next con.
September 22, 200619 yr As far as buying two copies, no problem. I plan to build a very simple simulator enclosure with two CH products yokes/pedals (already have 1 set of ea.) and then have the two monitors mounted along with a set of adjustable seats. The two machines run on a LAN and then 2 pilots can share the workload in an aircraft-esque set up. This allows a very generic simulator since the panels will be on the monitor(s). My next question is this:Do we ANTICIPATE the ability to have this work in add-on aircraft in the future? I hope so, or the feature will become very limited. Also, thanks for the previous answers and for all the hard work by the ACES team.

I'm sure someone will find a way not to make it work, but oh well.

Shared Cockpits will work with all 3rd party aircraft... up to a point. That point is reached whenever the 3rd party aircraft are using "custom variables" to control things. Obviously, such "custom variables" are not going to be "shared" across the network.IOW, only those things that're native to FS itself can be shared... Fr.
