October 1, 200619 yr Hi All, Does anybody know if there is a config file setting to increase the update rate of the Virtual cockpit gauges to match the smoothness seen in the 2D cockpit?ThanksStan
October 2, 200619 yr Author unfortunately the short answer to that is no...with most aircraft the gauge update rates are hard coded into the gauge itself and cannot be adjusted in any way...a real bummer, i know. That being said, however, there ARE a few planes out there that WILL let you adjust that gauge refresh rate...i dont know them all but one i can recall is probably the PMDG 737...there are others but im not sure which ones (its not many though, they are the rare exceptions)Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
October 2, 200619 yr As Dave already said the answer is no, however it also depends on the number of VC cockpit sections in the panel.cfg.The more sections, the lower the framerates. This is why many new panels only use 1 (or mostly 2) sections. More and more developers do take this seriously though, here are somevery nice examples:In its own league due to a certain gauge technology (not a regular panel with gauges on it, more like modelled into the vc directly):- Everything by Realair- SibWings: Saab Safir Also very good due to Reality XP gauges:Dreamfleet: Bonanza and BaronSome others:- Digital Aviation: Cheyenne and probably the Dornier 27 (I haven
October 2, 200619 yr Suprunov Design's Yak-40 brought something new. They made 3D-modelled gauges in VC. A new technology they say... The result : the smoothest and clearest VC gauges I've ever seen in an FS addon... Really great. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
October 2, 200619 yr Not exactly new anymore, but very smooth and also nicer looking gauges as they are 3d-modelled. RealAir was the first ones out here me thinks, long time ago with the SIAI Marchetti. The fantastic SibWings Saab Safir is also made this way :-)Eagle
October 3, 200619 yr Actually, the first RealAir plane to incorporate the 3d VC gauge modelling was the Spitfire. They then "retrofitted" all their previous (wonderful) planes with the same feature. Just as an aside, I truly believe every person who owns FS2004 and enjoys GA flying owes it to themselves to get RealAir's SF260. I've got a ton of payware and freeware planes and as great as many of them are, I still think the SF260 is the finest add-on plane I've ever flown. The other RealAir models are close (the Spitfire is particularly spectacular) but theres something special about the 260...
