Hello everybody, i'm getting i9 9900k and want your thoughts about the new motherboard. I have maximus x hero, i know it's compatible with i9 but i want a new one.

I personally would at least give the current board a try, Its much easier to change a proc then a MB. But if you want to change the big 3 (ASUS/MSI/GIGABYTE) all have good options. I am currently running a gigabyte board which was designed from the start to run 5 Ghz on all cores. Check them out. It has not disappointed me. The only compliant is the GUI is not the greatest, I keep hoping they design it better as the BIOS could use some improvement.

I am running i9 9900k and MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) at 5000MHz @ 70c with no issues,my Passmark score is 7894.

I run Z370 uppgrade to next gen after Z390, next gen with the new 10core Intel have a new Cpu socket, Z390 - Z370 no big difference

Going from one generation of the same vendor's board to the next isn't going to yield much of an upgrade, if any.  You really need to look at other solutions if you want a real "upgrade".  

To give you an analogy, let's say you own a 2019 Toyota Camry and you "upgrade" to a 2020 Toyota Camry of the exact same trim level.  Have you gained anything?  Only minor changes/fixes over the previous year.  Is that worthwhile?  Only if it's the perfect car for you and the only things problems you had have been corrected.

To me, anyone saying they "need a new motherboard" doesn't think their motherboard is perfect, so upgrading to what amounts to next year's model of the same board is a mistake.

I recently build a Z390/9900k system using a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master board, and it has been fantastic.  Strong VRM, REAL cooling for said VRM (unlike 95% of Asus boards).  If you want to overclock without sacrificing features, it's the board to get.  The only other Z390 board I would consider is the EVGA Z390 Dark.  It's an overclocking-dream.  

Otherwise, do as Hasse suggests and wait for next-gen.  Hopefully Intel gets Sunny Cove architecture to the desktop in 2020 and we can see a real performance upgrade.

I usually go for Gigabyte boards, but got my MSI Z390 Pro-A as it was stupidly cheap open box.  Got my 9700k to 5ghz no problem at all
