GTN Complete not compatible with P3D HF2

Featured Replies

I finally installed HF2  and when I try and load an aircraft with GTN 750 (I have GTN complete) I get an error message saying it is not compatible with latest version of P3D.  I read on the forum that I need to run the F1 update tool but the version I have seems to have an error and will not run.  I have searched the Flight1 site and cannot find a download option for the tool.  I have also run the Purchase Agent app and downloaded the latest version of GTN Complete but this still does not fix the problem.

I am running out of ideas.

So what's he prob with the version downloaded from the F1 Purchase Agent?

Because that's all I did to update for the current P3D release.

Cheers

It seems to download and install OK, the downloaded file is 72mb.  If I run the download again I do get a message saying 'The selected file is incomplete.  You can select Resume to continue the download, or press Start Over to delete the current file and start over'.  Clicking resume gives me the message 'Error. There was an unspecified error'  (very useful.)  If I click start over I just get the 72 meg file again.  Tried with Norton AV turned off and did not make a difference.

Thanks

72 MB is about right (71.8 MB on my workstation), and should be version 2.12 (at least) once installed

So it downloaded and installed OK, what's the problem then?

Was the update tool then run? if so did it update accordingly?

Was there some error message that occured during the install?

Did you also download and install the the latest Garmin Trainer? (a nearly 3 GB zip file), that'll be a separate download usually requested during the install.

Cheers

Try to re-install to have all the tools downloaded again and after running the F1 Update Tool you'll be good to go.

I have version 2.12 and the latest version of the trainer installed, the problem is the F1 update tool will not run. It gives me an error message about not finding a URL.  Should installing 2.12 give a new Update tool or should the one I already have dated 2017 still work?

Will download again, thanks for the help.

Get the latest one, the one that comes with the most recent GTN Complete installer.

I would add: Don't forget to uninstall the previous GTN Complete, including the F1 Update Tool through Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove programs).

Any Success ???

If you've installed the GTN v2.12 then you've the latest.

The F1 tool is found in the following P3D path and on mine is version 1.0.0.0 dated 11/10/2017

\Prepar3D v4\F1TGTN\

It does have to connect to the internet to download though.

What message is given re: not finding a URL?

Are you running a VPN/proxy or something like that?

Cheers

This is what I get

Error: URL is invalid            Current Version File Version: 1.11

Downloaded 0 of 0 bytes, Status Code =11

I can see the Download button but it is greyed out and there is a list of supported simulator versions the latest of which is Prepar 3D 3.4.9.18400.

The update tool is dated 11/10/2017. and is in Prepar3D Install\F1TGTN.  Not running a VPN or proxy.  Did a delete using windows uninstall and re downloaded/installed  GTN Complete v2.12 through the Purchase Agent app but the update tool still has the error message when I run it (as administrator).

Trying to get onto the Flight1 GTN forum but it won't give me access even though I am registered and have entered the purchase code, they don't make it easy.

Something is wrong there. You should have v1.16 by now.

OK, sounds like you've done everything right, just that the app cannot get out to the internet.

Maybe being blocked by anti-malware/firewall?

What the update tool looks for locally is,

C:\ProgramData\Flight One Software\F1GPSGeneral.dat

Which will hold the various version info needed and if renamed the update tool should find no file and thus want to redownload.

The URLs the update tool connects to are as per below.

And these two are the required files and should download directly via a web browser.

Once you've got them you're nearly there to popping the files in their appropriate place manually.

The version.txt file drops into the same location as F1GPSGeneral.dat and looks like it is removed by the update tool once it's finished with it.

Thanks Rogen,  I have the two files loaded and now when I run the update tool it says v1.16 and I can see the most recent P3D version in the list.  But still not connecting to the URL, I have added the ProgramData\Flight One Software directory to my Norton exclusion list and put the URL in the safe browsing list but still not connecting.

Very frustrating. Appreciate everyone's help.  Cheers

Yeah sounds like you've something preventing the update tool from connecting.

Windows event logging or av logs might help.

Otherwise, now that you have the files in place does the GTN work as it should with P3D ?

Hi, sorry misread your previous e-mail, thought I still needed to get the download working before GTN would work.  Just checked in P3D and all is working fine.

Really appreciate your help. Cheers
