January 2, 20206 yr Folks, What connection should I use for a single 1080Ti (G-Sync) and 2k ASUS ROG 1440 monitor? January 3, 20206 yr Using DisplayPort here, running a 1070 with what I suspect is an identical monitor (PG279Q). I run Gsync and limit frames to 30 using P3D's limiter. Works great, and VERY smooth as long as my humble CPU keeps up. Before I bought my monitor I did a bunch of reading to determine whether I should use DP or HDMI, and came to the conclusion DP was the way to go, but for what reasons, I don't recall. Kind Regards, i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

Kind Regards, Well, if it's a PG279Q, DP is definitely the way to go, because without it, G-Sync will not work. January 3, 20206 yr Author Thanks guys, but how does P3D benefit from G-Sync? 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

Unless your monitor allows setting a refresh rate of 30 Hz, Gsync is the only way to get a 30 Hz refresh (or a multiple of 30Hz) to match a locked fps of 30. With Gsync the monitor refresh will match (or be a multiple of) fps up to the maximum refresh of the monitor (in the case of the PG279Q it's 144Hz). Unless you can match refresh and fps you'll always have stutters. Some are able to do it with monitors that can be set at 30 Hz, and then they just use vsync which forces fps to 30. The downside to vsync is mouselag, which you don't get when using Gsync. Kind Regards, i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

I suspect that's the very reason I went with DP when I bought the monitor. Kind Regards, i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
