October 10, 200619 yr Hello,So, I finally caved and bought FSX and FPS are pretty stable @ 30 FPS which is fabulous. However , there's one thing that really hinders me from enjoying it complete (beside aweful default planes) and that is a weird GREEN and RED texture for 1-2 seconds until the sim loads the texture.has anyone encountered that artifact ? Second problem is with the reply.. it seems as it's slightly hung and doesn't run smoothly from SPOT view.Would appreciate any kind of helpI am running a x1900xt 512mb and 6.9 catalyst driver.

October 10, 200619 yr yep same here...its not everytime but all too often just the same...another pet peeve is how things get really choppy when i try panning left & right in the vc.After installing some of the tweaks/file fixes posted here and adjusting my video driver settings (tried lots of different combinations before getting it right) im finally able to run it at 14-20 fps in the Long Island,NY and Manhatten area and reasonably smooth...although i still get the problems mentioned above. My PC is old as far as cpu (only p4 3.06), but i recently did a mini upgrade by bringing the ram up to 2gig and installing a Geforce7800gs (the final and fastest agp card available)...and the only way i was able to get it to run THIS well was to completely shut off ALL forms of AI traffic (both air & ground).Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
October 11, 200619 yr I get the same thing as you. I notice we have the same video card and drivers. No idea what could be causing that. I also get some yellow swirls like someone took a highlighter and scribbled in the sky. They do disappear after awhile though.
October 11, 200619 yr Author The green is a fallback color for the runway (and other elements). While your system is loading textures (or if it runs out of memory), it uses a fallback color, until the texture is found and loaded.tell-fs: guys, could you use gray as a fallback color? It would be much nicer. The swirls in the sky are the thermal visualization that appear probably for much the same reason. As soon as everything is loaded correctly, they are made transparent.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
