October 10, 200619 yr I have the Deluxe retail edition. Will some kind soul please help me with the Traffic Toolbox in the SDK? There are some vague instructions on using it and installing it. I have the FSX program in the default location as well as the SDX. I can't figure out what to do to install it. I don't have any Tools dropdown menu in FSX like I do in FS2004. In FS2004 the traffictoolbox.dll is in the Modules folder. I tried just putting the .dll in the main FSX folder but it did not work. Is NET Framework 2.0 needed for the Traffic Toolbox? For some unknown reason I can't install Version 2.0. I get a Blue Screen of Death and the installation aborts.I'd sure appreciate any help. Thanks and bst regards, Bob.
October 10, 200619 yr I'm not trying to be a SA or criticize you - but did you read the first section of the SDK HTML file?DLL's have to be "activated" in FSX in the dll.xml file in the profile next to the FSX.cfg file. The default dll.xml file even has the information for the Traffic Toolbox in place - just change the section under Disabled to False. You can now have .dll files in different folders - because the dll.xml file will include their path.
October 10, 200619 yr Author Hi Reggie. Thanks. I don't mind being criticized. Yes I did read that but my simple mind did not totally comprehend. I now changed the True to False and saved it. Now when I open FSX I at least get a Tools section on the toolbar. When I click on it I get another selection "FX Tools". When I minimized FSX I get a window with an FX Edit screen which is not mentioned anywhere that I can see. I get no options like Traffic Explorer, Traffic Map or Dump Airport List. I am still lost. I'd sure like help! Best regards, Bob.
October 10, 200619 yr You have activated a different DLL.Check the file and check to make sure the path to the Traffictoolbox.dll is correct.Sorry I can't be more specific, unlike FS2004, I can't keep an extra copy of FS on this computer at work to answer questions - I'll have to wait until I get home to check the exact file.PS - one of the first mistakes most of us make, me included, is thinking that what we knew about FS2004 applies in FSX. This exact thing was one I messed up intitially the same way you did.
October 10, 200619 yr Author Hi again. Thanks for the help. I got them all working now. Best regards, Bob.

November 26, 200619 yr Moderator Try putting the complete drive/path in the line. For whatever reason I had to do that because the "relative path" method wouldn't work for me either!C:FSXFlight simulator X SDKSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dll Fr. December 7, 200619 yr Hello FS Friends!I am back from 1.5 years of research work in Brazil, and where I had access to my Word Processor and e-mail only.I have forgotten nearly everything I saw in the first months of FS9, but am catching up quickly in FSX, which I love ... since my wife bought me a new "Core2 Duo" machine with lots om memory and superb NVidia video. Please help me to understand why I am not getting the Traffic Tools you mention. Here is what I have in my "dll.XML": Traffic ToolboxFalseC:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKEnvironment KitTraffic Toolbox SDKtraffictoolbox.dllI did not understand the earlier note in this thread regarding the setup. Many thanks!
February 27, 201412 yr Could anyone please help!!! I have been trying to get Traffic Toolbox to show up on my FSX. I have the deluxe version with SP2 installed and SDK SP2 installed as well. I have changed the .dll file in the appdata/roaming/microsoft/FSX folder to read <Launch.Addon> <Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>C:\FSX\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> The Path is C: drive and FSX because made a new folder(FSX) in the C drive and installed it there rather than the default location. I also changed the .dll file in the Environment kit folder as well to read the same but i am not getting tools coming up on the menu bar. I have MyTraffic 2013 installed and REX could these be a problem. Any help would be appreciated.
