Help Tracking a specific CTD scenario

Featured Replies

Good day everyone,

I am experiencing a very specific CTD scenario.

Any time I fly into our out of TKPK I get a CTD as soon as I pan the camera to the mountain to the north of the airport. for some reason when I fly over it or look at it even if at the ground it crashes and it gives me a KERNELBASE error. I am not sure where to begin as I don't even have any add on airports installed over the area. I tried with default aircraft and the same scenario happens. I tried lowering the mesh, and same thing CTD when near that mountain.

I have ORBX VECTOR installed. ORBX GLOBAL. ORBX LC SOUTH AMERICA, NORTH AMERICA

Nearby Airports installed

LFR TJSJ

FLYTAMPA TNCM

P3Dv4.5

Would help to notate that I never get CTD on any other scenario. My system runs flawlessly with FSLA3XX , NGXu, 777, 717, Aerosoft CRJ/ A32X. Dozens of payware scenery in demanding areas.

I am really puzzled on what it could be that triggers the crash just when setting the viewpoint to that mountain. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Jim, the error still occurs with that scenario. I am perplexed.

You need to change one thing at a time and test. Don't change more than one thing because if the problem is fixed you won't know which change fixed it.

Start by disabling TJSJ and try your panning test. If it still crashes P3D then enable TJSJ and disable TNCM. Repeat the test.

If it persists disable each of your ORBX areas in turn and test.

Finally, disable all your ORBX entries and addon airports for that area. If the problem persists it's not related to those addons and you need to look elsewhere.

I like  Ray's suggestion as, of course he is right.  Investigating the scene is the  only way  to fix it and this is where the AVSIM CTD Guide comes in handy.  My  favorite fix for ALL CTD'S is renaming the dll.xml. restarting PSD, and seeing if this fixes the problem. Remember there are 2 dll.xml's in P3D V4. You really don't need all those modules loading and running in the background.

I don't know what all you have installed but many with P3D use an AI program and it might have incompatible traffic. If there is a military installation nearby then you might run into an incompatible military aircraft. AVSIM recommends disabling the mil traffic.bgl in fsx/scenery/world/scenery. There are many other suggestions like this in the CTD Guide including possible fixes for the kernellbase dll error I found while setting up the guide.
