January 24, 20206 yr I have spent several hours trying to install Garmin GNS 530 without success. I've read the instructions, disabled antivirus software, and have used only the default installation settings. Garmin Lite Training was installed during installation. I checked the box to have a shortcut placed on my desktop, but it never appears. I've done several installations, deleted files from those installations, run registry cleaner, have run rxpfsxml as administrator, etc., etc. No success so far, and I haven't found solutions here. So I tried to submit a support ticket and when I try to submit the ticket I just get a little spinning circle at the lower right of the ticket that, I guess, is telling me that the ticket is in the process of being submitted. But it doesn't submit, and I'm not seeing any incomplete or error messages. The spinning circle is exactly what I've been doing, chasing my own tail, trying to install the software and find solutions. BTW, I installed the 750 last year without any of these problems. Why am I not able to install 530? Any suggestions? Thanks. FSX Acceleration Service Pack 2; Windows 10
January 24, 20206 yr You have arrived at the right place. Be patient. It's sometimes a world clock at play here while waiting for responses, and developmental projects often cause the developer, who is also the supporter, to burn the midnight oil for several consecutive days. User to user let me say these are great products. Few have installation issues such as you have reported, so feel certain they can be overcome. One question from me. Did you define a custom installation locations, or did you use the default locations? January 25, 20206 yr Author To fppilot, as I mentioned, I have used only the default installation settings. To RXP, what I was expecting from the installation is that the software would be installed, which is not happening as far as I can discern. The other thing that's not happening is that I've been unable to submit a support ticket. I have filled out the form completely, I believe, but when I submit the form it doesn't "go" anywhere.

This is not what I was asking you: how would you say it is installed or not? i.e. what wee you expecting to see which would tell you it is installed that you don't see right now?

Sorry for misunderstanding your question. During the installation process the option is given via a checkbox to create a desktop shortcut. I selected the option to have the shortcut installed, but it does not appear. Upon completing the Reality XP Garmin GNS v2 (FltSim) setup wizard, the wizard says that setup has finished the installation and that the application may be launched by selecting the installed shortcuts. However, there are no shortcuts either on the desktop or in the startup menu or in the folder in which the software was saved to. Maybe I should rephrase. Perhaps the application has been installed, but I have not as yet been able to launch it. I have installed and used the F1 GTN 750 and it has a configuration shortcut. I have no experience with the 530, but I assume that the shortcut is for the configuration of the 530. But I have not found the shortcut or any other way to launch the program. January 27, 20206 yr Ok this makes it clearer now! There is no configuration application, it is a thing of the past! I'd suggest you start with the RXP GNS User's Manual "Getting Started" chapter. Since there is no shortcut to the User's Manual saved to your desktop, you can either open Windows Start > Reality XP > GNS and open the manual from there, or, just open the latest manual directly from our website main page (links to both FltSim and XPlane manuals at the bottom): http://reality-xp.com/index2.html TL;DR: launch the simulator, select an aircraft, once in the cockpit: Add-Ons > Reality XP > GNS and enjoy live in-sim Panel Assistant! Thank you. I have read and re-read the manual. In fairness to MYSELF, I wonder whether there are items in the manual that should be updated and/or clarified. Also, as mentioned, the installation process offers an option to install shortcuts on the desktop. But, as you stated, the configuration application is a thing of the past, which explains why the shortcut was not installed. My impression was that a configuration shortcut should have been installed. I'm sure that I have installed over 100 aircraft and utilities without even close to the humbug I encountered with this installation. So, I thank you for your help, and I do, now, have the 530 installed, and I'm flyin'. Although I'm also wondering whether I'm too old and dumb to be flying even pretend aircraft!

I don't know what is preventing the installer to copy it on your desktop but you can always find the link to the manual from: the Windows Start > Reality XP group, or directly in C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP or from our website The manual guides you gradually from Getting Started, through Features, then deeper into Settings and Configuration.
