A good EMB 135 alternative?

Featured Replies

I'm wanting to simulate some JSX flights in an EMB 135 but the only one out there is the one from Feelthere and it doesn't look great.

What are my alternatives? Majestic Dash 8-400? (I'd rather have a jet) or the CRJ's?

Anything else?  It needs to fly well on an old computer. Thanks

Ciao!

Some airplanes, like some women, look good but offer little else. The Feelthere ERJs V2 are showing their age and don't have the latest eye candy, but they can cook, clean and carry on a conversation. They are a pleasure to fly.

To discount the ERJ or any other plane because it doesn't look good is pretty narrow. Its model and flight dynamics are still better than most current "pretty" planes. You can pick it up for less than $20 cuz it goes on sale often. And it's a jet.

Another alternative is the Aerosoft CRJ Pro (not the CRJ700/900 X). The Pro has four models, the 550, 700, 900 and 1000. Developer finally has the plane running properly. And it should fit your criteria of looking great. Initially it's high maintenance, costing $75.

Disclaimer: I beta-tested the CRJ Pro and got the update from the X version for free.

Hello Brian,

I agree, the CRJ is finally getting there.  But you also can't go wrong with the Majestic Dash 8 Q400 Professional, it's one of the two best aircraft ever developed for desktop flight simulation - the other (and another alternative) is the Leonardo MaddogX MD-80.

I'm part of the Aerosoft Corporate Team, and I'm also on the Leonardo and Majestic Teams.  They are all excellent choices, but if you've never flown the Dash 8 then you'd be in for a real treat!  The Dash 8 truly has Jet-like performance.  I have a great real world article on that which I'll try to find and provide here.

Best wishes!

Below is a link to a great article on the Dash 8 compared to the ATR-72, but it includes how the Dash compares to straight jets. The website has an issue with the menu at the moment, but just scroll down to see the article.
