February 3, 20206 yr Hi I am not sure what i have done to my set up but i am trying to change some settings in my P3D4 options menu and the sim crashes to desktop if i try to enter it. If i go to my saved flight or set a flight up without needing to change any options everything appears ok. Never seen anything like this before, can anyone provide any suggestions to solve the issue? In my appcrashview it says "the string binding is invalid" and the fault module name is Tried removing the P3D.cfg file and rebuild however same issue remains. Any help most appreciated. February 3, 20206 yr You could try 'deleting generated files' in the Prepar3D root folder. If youre not familiar, you will have to reactivate you addons the next time you start the sim. Run ORBX central, re-register SODE etc. It's pretty painless and won't won't harm your saves files. If you have any .cfg Tweaks you'll need to do those again.
February 3, 20206 yr The fault module name is ????????? Have you tried entering a known working config and saving that back out as the default flight? Can you change the options after starting a flight? I'll put in another plug here for the free P3D Addon Manager by Lorby-SI. You can take a snapshot of all your config files with a single click, and when something like this happens, restore things back to that state just as easily. It's saved my bacon more than a couple times. Hi Bob sorry the info dropped out the fault module s KERNEL.dll Unfortunately I made the fatal mistake of not backing up my P3D cfg file as I haven’t needed it since fsx days. would a deleting of my 4.5 client and reinstall help? Any ideas? Edited February 3, 20206 yr by barramundilure Regards Barra i7 7700K, 16GB 3200MHz DDR4, GTX1070 OC 8GB, 1TB Samsung SSD for OS and P3D4.4, W10 64Bit, Corsair H115i Water Cooling
February 4, 20206 yr Author For anyone with similar issues, I did a system restore which seemed to fix the problem. Still not sure what caused it initially though. Regards Barra i7 7700K, 16GB 3200MHz DDR4, GTX1070 OC 8GB, 1TB Samsung SSD for OS and P3D4.4, W10 64Bit, Corsair H115i Water Cooling
